Q: Is it safe for bluegill

1 Answer
  • AI-generated
A: Yes, this algaecide is safe for game fish like bluegill when used according to the label directions. Reviewers have successfully released bluegill into treated ponds shortly after application without harm. To maintain safe oxygen levels for fish, it is recommended to treat the pond in sections.

Q: Is it safe for horses and livestock and the aquatic life in the pond?

1 Answer
  • A: If used according to the label, then the aquatic life in the pond won't be bothered. There is no drinking restriction on treated water, but it's best to avoid letting them drink immediately after applying the product so it has time to disperse and be absorbed. Sheep are sensitive to copper, so it's best to keep them from drinking water treated with copper based algaecides.

Q: How is it applied? Can you mis with water in a sprayer and apply it?

1 Answer
  • AI-generated
A: Yes, you can mix this algaecide with water in a sprayer for application. According to the manufacturer, the product should be diluted and applied as a spray directly to the algae, as it is too dense to spread effectively straight out of the bottle.

Q: Will this harm fish

1 Answer
  • A: Hello, thank you for your question. Cutrine Plus liquid and granular algaecide can be used in ponds with game fish when used according to label rates and directions. For trout there is a warning for water softness on the label. Sectional treatments as described on the label help keep the oxygen levels up for fish. Fish can be consumed from the treated pond. The user manual states, "Waters treated with this product may be used for swimming, fishing, further potable water treatment, livestock watering or irrigating turf, ornamental plants or crops after treatment. Do not use in waters containing Koi and hybrid goldfish. Not intended for use in small volume, garden pond systems." https://media.tractorsupply.com/is/content/TractorSupplyCompany/tsc/product/4/20/74/50/4207450_Man1.pdf?

  • A: Hello, thank you for your question. The product label warns not to use this product in waters that contain Koi or hybrid goldfish. Trash. Never again. This or anything else.

Don’t buy this. It sinks straight to the bottom of the pond without incorporating itself into the water. It did absolutely nothing. You can watch it fall straight to the bottom as if you were pouring water into cooking oil.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Chuck,

Per the label instructions, the product needs to be diluted and applied as a spray directly to the algae. It is too dense straight out of the bottle, so yes it will sink to the bottom without spreading.
