Item Information

More than a colorant, Aquashade® Aquatic Plant Growth Control is a precise EPA-registered blend of dyes proven to control underwater aquatic plants.

Having gone through rigorous testing and reviews, Aquashade® dyes are specifically blended to block the spectrum of sunlight critical to photosynthesis. This powerful formulation helps to control under water weeds, and if used early in the season can prevent algae and weeds altogther.

  • Blue pond colorant inhibits photosynthesis under water
  • Powerful formulation is tested, proven to perform by stopping photosynthesis
  • Easy to apply - just pour around the edges
  • Disperses quickly and evenly within hours
  • Use in conjunction with herbicides or algaecides for control of surface algae mats or shallow-water plants
  • Once dispersed, treated water can be used for swimming, fishing, irrigating and animals drinking the water

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Our Fish Are Happy! Works great as an algae aid and helps block the sun from our Koi and Catfish. Our cats actually were getting sunburns on their heads prior to us using Aquashade. Now after just 3 weeks, their spots have healed and they're happy swimmers. The water color is also a bonus... its beautiful!

How long will this last?

Asked by: Rememberiamdust
You will need to reapply as needed to restore loss of color due to dilution or dye degradation. Often this product has to be added monthly or after heavy rains.

is this product safe for scaleless koi and koi

Asked by: triplett
Applied Biochemists Aquashade can be used in ponds with Koi and Goldfish. Keep in mind that treatment of aquatic weeds, where the vegetation dies, may result in an oxygen depletion of the water and can cause any species of fish to suffocate. If you have a substantial amount of vegetation that may be effected by this product then treat only 1/2 of the pond at a time.

How much would I need to treat a pond 95' x 275' deepest is 6'. Most of algae is in the two to three foot range. i would say the average depth is 4' .

Asked by: Hartz63
We calculated that your pond holds about 781,660 gallons. You would need to use about 60 percent of the 1 gallon bottle or 76.8 fl oz. The entire bottle treats 1.3 million gallons.

How much would I need to use for a 3 acre pond? The deepest part is about 8 foot.

Asked by: PattiT52
For a 3 acre pond with an average depth of 4 feet you will use 3.8 gallons to create a 1.5 ppm concentration of Applied Biochemists® Aquashade. The concentration determines the color you want the pond to be, for more information please call the manufacturer at 1-800-558-5106.
