Item Information

The Pond Boss PRO The Block is a blend of live bacteria and enzymes specifically designed to improve water quality by reducing unwanted nutrients. Decaying nutrients such as leaves, grass clipping, dead plants, excess food and other organic material build at the bottom of the pond in what is commonly called the "sludge" layer of the pond. The sludge layer is most often responsible for undesirable odors and low oxygen levels. Regular use of Pond Boss PRO The Block will consume decaying organic material at the bottom of the pond and in the water column. Results may vary based on weather and use of other products.

  • 5 lb. can treat up to 5 acre-feet of water (1.6 million gallons)
  • Increases water clarity
  • Controlled release that regulates efficiency
  • Significantly reduces noxious odors caused by hydrogen sulfide, dead plant material, and fish waste
  • Reduces ammonia and nitrogen levels
  • Dissolves away organic sludge
  • Improves dissolved oxygen levels
  • Effective over a wide range of pH conditions and water temperatures
  • Use in water temperature of 50° or higher

Pond Boss PRO The Block, 5 lb. is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works for my pond I used a pond block pro 5 pound size last year after winter and spring rain and runoff, along with whatever else, caused cloudiness due to suspended organic matter. It started clearing within several days and was a good color in about 10 days. I got one from Tractor Supply this year since this year they had them available to order. I just yesterday put it in the pond and expect the same results within a week or two.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Passive status. Just sitting in the pond inflow source dissolving and hopefully working its magic. Could be months before results are known. GO SCIENCE!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pond treatment fantastic product We have a large pond on our little 5 acre ranch. I was always telling my husband I loved the pond but didn’t like the way the water looked. After using Pond Boss Pro a can see the fish and it is amazing. Best product we have ever used.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Time Will Tell Bought this product two weeks ago for our pond. We added other things to the pond also. It is really too early to tell if this product will be effective or not. For now, the pond does look clearer.

I have a 2-3 acre pond, this is a 2 fold question, will this block work for getting rid of algea and lily pads that are above the water? and secondly if we choose to catch fish out of the pond and cook and eat them I'm assuming would NOT be ok?

Asked by: Stuckey
This product will not kill algae or lily pads on the surface. It is intended for the "sludge" at the bottom. You will need an algaecide for that task. We do not recommend eating the fish if this product is used.

How many different strains of bacteria and enzymes r in the product? If I want to improve the sludge at the bottom of my lakefront out about 10 ft, would it work in my area if the rest of the lake isn't using it? R U affiliated with Texas Pond Boss?

Asked by: WaveAction
This product contains 4 strains of heterotrophic bacteria. This would help improve the sludge layer in the lake, but should be used across the whole lake. The pond boss brand is not the same as Texas Pond Boss. We hope this helps!

If I have 7.5 acre feet is one block enough or should I use two. The pond is extremely mucky and stinky. Should I use 2 as an initial treatment and then go to 1 after 60 days or is 1 block plenty to get started? Thanks

Asked by: Clete
We would suggest an initial treatment of 2 blocks, and then you can go down to 1-1/2 or 1 as a continuous monthly maintenance routine base on your lake's needs. We hope this helps!

I have a 1/7th acre pond . We do have some sunnies and striped bass that were inherited. There is a lot of muck and leaves on the bottom and scummy algae that floats to the top on warm days. I was told not to use copper

Asked by: Bikeragent54
This product will work great. It is safe for fish, plants and other lake inhabitants.

My pond is .33 acres . How much to use and how often?

Asked by: Chops724
The Block is designed to be used in a 5 acre-foot application. For a 1/3 acre pond you would only want to use a 1/15 of this block every month, and any remainder of The Block can last up to a year. We hope this helps!

I have a 5 acre surface size pond that is long and narrow. It is about 3.5 ft deep on one end and 13 ft deep on the other. Have a lot of algae problem. Should I put it in the center of the pond or place more on the shallow end.

Asked by: JMReed
Ideally this should be placed in the deeper areas or near an aeration source, such as a sub surface aerator or fountain. It can be placed or tossed in. We hope this helps!
