Item Information

The Pond Boss PRO The Block is a blend of live bacteria and enzymes specifically designed to improve water quality by reducing unwanted nutrients. Decaying nutrients such as leaves, grass clipping, dead plants, excess food and other organic material build at the bottom of the pond in what is commonly called the "sludge" layer of the pond. The sludge layer is most often responsible for undesirable odors and low oxygen levels. Regular use of Pond Boss PRO The Block will consume decaying organic material at the bottom of the pond and in the water column. Results may vary based on weather and use of other products.

  • 5 lb. can treat up to 5 acre-feet of water (1.6 million gallons)
  • Increases water clarity
  • Controlled release that regulates efficiency
  • Significantly reduces noxious odors caused by hydrogen sulfide, dead plant material, and fish waste
  • Reduces ammonia and nitrogen levels
  • Dissolves away organic sludge
  • Improves dissolved oxygen levels
  • Effective over a wide range of pH conditions and water temperatures
  • Use in water temperature of 50° or higher

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use I dropped this in my 1 acre 8 ft deep pond, added aeration, and voila! Much clearer water, no more decay smell from my pond, all the suspended organic muck reduced by half in just 1 week!! I will definitely buy this pond block again!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Helps to eliminate algae and clears the water Used 2 blocks in a 22 acre pond. Recommended 4. It worked excellent around the water frontage that I owned. Worked wonderfully to eliminate an algae problem I had. Also helped to break up the muck on the bottom. First time I could see clear to the bottom. Will definitely use again. This time I'll use the recommended 4 blocks to treat the entire pond.

I have a 2-3 acre pond, this is a 2 fold question, will this block work for getting rid of algea and lily pads that are above the water? and secondly if we choose to catch fish out of the pond and cook and eat them I'm assuming would NOT be ok?

Asked by: Stuckey
This product will not kill algae or lily pads on the surface. It is intended for the "sludge" at the bottom. You will need an algaecide for that task. We do not recommend eating the fish if this product is used.

I have a 1/7th acre pond . We do have some sunnies and striped bass that were inherited. There is a lot of muck and leaves on the bottom and scummy algae that floats to the top on warm days. I was told not to use copper

Asked by: Bikeragent54
This product will work great. It is safe for fish, plants and other lake inhabitants.

Where does it need to be placed? And I throw it in a point or in the middle? Can it be on the edge or need to be in deeper water?

Asked by: Josh84
Ideally this should be placed in the deeper areas of the lake or near an aeration source, such as a sub surface aerator or fountain. It can be placed or tossed in. We hope this helps!

I have 1 acre pond with the filamtrous algae, suspended and floating to top, which I have been raking up. I am looking for an Algeciras to use that will kill/control. We do have bass and channel cats that we do catch and eat.

Asked by: 62rick
The Block™ will help with preventative measures and some suspended algae removal. You may need to continue raking any existing filamentous algae that has surfaced to the top of your pond. This product is made from all natural bacteria, so it is safe for your fish. We would also suggest breaking this into smaller pieces depending on the depth of your pond as this is rated for 5 acre feet of water. It also helps for distribution to add this into your pond near a source of aeration. We hope this helps!

my pond is less than 1/4 acre is it ok to cut the block into smaller pieces

Asked by: gburch
It is completely fine to put the whole 5lb block in that size of a pond. Do not break portions off as they are time release and will not work properly.
