Q: How much does the T post need to be sticking out of the ground? I’ve got silt fence that has T posts sticking out 18” will this be able to grab that? From the pictures, it looks like it only grabs just below the 38” length of the leverage bar.

Doing so will void the 1 year warranty. It may also result in potential injury, up to and including death. This is one of those tools that once you use it, you'll think back of all of the time and energy wasted over the years when you didn't have it. I opted for this taller one and I'm glad that I did as there is no bending. The hook is great for wood posts but also versatile as a makeshift crane for just about anything for a one-man farm operation. 100% recommend.

Works well on T-posts, especially if ground is not rock hard dry, but even then, it works. Does require some upper body strength, but I'm an active 74 year old female and could manage it. Have a 2x4 piece handy to put under base if soil is wet or really leafy and soft.
