This Stump Stop 32 oz. Cut Stump and Basal Bark Treatment is used to control nearly 100 varieties of woody plant species, including alder, birch, dogwood, elm and many more. It also kills poison ivy and poison oak. This stump killer is used in forests, rangeland, permanent pastures, industrial manufacturing and storage sites, rights-of-way and other areas. These sites may include application to grazed areas, as well as the establishment and maintenance of wildlife openings. This herbicide is ready to use and requires no mixing.

For additional information on this product, please see the Product Documents section for all downloadable user manuals, installation guides, brochures and warranty statements.

  • Stump and root killer is ready to use and requires no mixing
  • Apply Stump Stop herbicide to cut stumps to control resprouting
  • Used to control nearly 100 varieties of woody plant species, including alder, birch, dogwood, elm, hawthorn, locust, Russian olive, pine, sumac, willow and many more
  • Also kills poison ivy and poison oak
  • Applications: Forests, rangeland, permanent pastures, industrial manufacturing and storage sites, rights-of-way (such as electrical power lines, communication lines, pipelines, road sides and railroads), fence rows, non-irrigation ditch banks and around farm buildings
  • For cut stumps: Treatments may be applied throughout the year, except when snow or water prevents spraying to the ground line. Control may be reduced with treatment during periods of moisture stress as in late summer.
  • For basal bark treatment: Apply at any time, including the winter months, except when snow or water prevents spraying to the ground line.
  • To control resprouting: apply undiluted Stump Stop to wet the area adjacent to the cambium and bark around the entire circumference and the sides of cut stumps. Sides of stumps should be thoroughly wetted down to the root collar area, but not to the point of runoff.
  • To control susceptible woody plants with stems less than a 6 in. basal diameter: Apply Stump Stop with a backpack or knapsack sprayer using low pressure and a solid cone or flat fan nozzle. Spray the basal parts of brush and tree trunks in a manner that thoroughly wets the lower 12 to 15 in. of stems, including the root collar area, but not to the point of runoff. Herbicide concentration should vary with size and susceptibility of species treated.
  • See the complete label for specific use rates and detailed instructions

1 Answer
  • AI-generated, Human-approved
A: It depends on the application method. For basal bark treatments on stems less than 6 inches in diameter, you should use a backpack or knapsack sprayer. However, for cut stumps, you can apply the undiluted liquid directly to the cambium and bark using the re-closable squirt cap.

Q: Will it kill wax Myrtle

1 Answer
  • A: Hi neighbor! Yes, Stump Stop Cut Stump and Basal Bark Treatment will effectively kill wax myrtle, as its active ingredient (13.6% triclopyr) specifically targets and destroys hardy broadleaf woody brush, trees, and vines. For the best results, you should cut the wax myrtle down and apply the ready-to-use solution directly to the freshly cut stump within 45 minutes to ensure it translocates deep into the aggressive root system and prevents resprouting.

Q: Can you use it on a stump beside your well

1 Answer
  • A: Howdy neighbor! You should not use Stump Stop near your water well because its active ingredient, triclopyr, is highly water-soluble and can easily leach through the soil into your groundwater supply. For your safety, it is best to avoid chemical treatments around a wellhead and instead use non-toxic methods like mechanical stump grinding or filling drilled holes with pure Epsom salt to dry out the roots. This keeps your drinking water perfectly safe while effectively clearing out that stubborn stump.

1 Answer
  • AI-generated, Human-approved
A: No, drilling is not required for this product. To control resprouting, you simply apply the undiluted liquid to wet the area adjacent to the cambium and bark around the entire circumference and sides of the cut stump.

1 Answer
  • AI-generated, Human-approved
A: Yes, this treatment is designed to control resprouting by wetting the area adjacent to the bark and the sides of cut stumps. For effective control, you should thoroughly wet the sides of the stump down to the root collar area.

Improper Shipping of a Dangerous Substance

The bottles were improperly packed for shipping. They were simply shoved in a cardboard box. During shipping they leaked all over the box. This substance is a deadly and harmful poison. I was afraid to have to handle the box to return it. I am extremely disappointed in Tractor Supply.

Given wrong it’s

I placed an online order, they loaded in my car. I went to get my stump killer and it was a bottle of granular pieces you gave to drill holes. It is 3 dollars less. They charged me for what I ordered. Now I have to make a trip to the store and get a refund or exchange.

Effective!

Stump stop has been very effective for me. I am killing invasive species like honeysuckle, blackberries, wisteria, beauty berries and crepe myrtles that have volunteered in my flower beds. Moved on to pine trees and cedar trees sprouting down by the pond, spoiling my view. Very happy with the product!

Yes, I recommend this product.

Tree of Heaven

Worked really well on Tree of Heaven. Applied to the bark with a Zep pistol grip sprayer. Sprayed an 18” band around the main trunk and also on about 8 suckers. Two weeks later they are toast!
