- Stump and root killer is ready to use and requires no mixing
- Apply Stump Stop herbicide to cut stumps to control resprouting
- Used to control nearly 100 varieties of woody plant species, including alder, birch, dogwood, elm, hawthorn, locust, Russian olive, pine, sumac, willow and many more
- Also kills poison ivy and poison oak
- Applications: Forests, rangeland, permanent pastures, industrial manufacturing and storage sites, rights-of-way (such as electrical power lines, communication lines, pipelines, road sides and railroads), fence rows, non-irrigation ditch banks and around farm buildings
- For cut stumps: Treatments may be applied throughout the year, except when snow or water prevents spraying to the ground line. Control may be reduced with treatment during periods of moisture stress as in late summer.
- For basal bark treatment: Apply at any time, including the winter months, except when snow or water prevents spraying to the ground line.
- To control resprouting: apply undiluted Stump Stop to wet the area adjacent to the cambium and bark around the entire circumference and the sides of cut stumps. Sides of stumps should be thoroughly wetted down to the root collar area, but not to the point of runoff.
- To control susceptible woody plants with stems less than a 6 in. basal diameter: Apply Stump Stop with a backpack or knapsack sprayer using low pressure and a solid cone or flat fan nozzle. Spray the basal parts of brush and tree trunks in a manner that thoroughly wets the lower 12 to 15 in. of stems, including the root collar area, but not to the point of runoff. Herbicide concentration should vary with size and susceptibility of species treated.
- See the complete label for specific use rates and detailed instructions
- Consult the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for important safety information

Q: Will this kill the grass that’s around the tree stump?
2 days ago- AI-generated, Human-approvedA: When used as directed, this treatment stays on the treated area and will not spread to nearby plants or grassy areas. It is designed to be applied directly to tree stumps or the base of trunks, but you should apply it carefully to avoid overspray on surrounding vegetation.3 hours agoHelpful?
Q: If I drill holes in stump And pour in holes with stump stop will it get rid of stump
11 days ago- AI-generated, Human-approvedA: Yes, this product is effective for killing stumps and preventing regrowth, though drilling is not required. Q: Will this kill a ficus stump
13 days ago- A: Yes, Stump Stop Cut Stump Treatment will kill a ficus stump.11 days agoHelpful?
Q: Will this kill ground covering English ivy
15 days ago- A: Howdy neighbor! Stump Stop Cut Stump and Basal Bark Treatment will successfully kill ground covering English ivy, but only if you cut the thick vines and apply the product directly to the fresh stumps. Because English ivy leaves have a thick, waxy coating that repels liquids, a standard spray over the foliage will slide right off without killing the plant. Painting the undiluted chemical directly onto the raw, cut stems forces the ivy to draw the treatment deep into its root system for permanent eradication.13 days agoHelpful?
Q: Will it work on bamboo?
15 days ago- A: Yes but cut it first. I would rather use the Farmworks 41% glyphosate at a fifty percent concentration on the cut bamboo.14 days agoHelpful?
Q: Will this work on princess tree?
15 days ago- A: It should14 days agoHelpful?
Q: Does stump stop have a brush to apply to the tree trunk or do you need to buy one
19 days ago- AI-generated, Human-approvedA: No, this product does not include a brush. It features a re-closable squirt cap for direct application to cut stumps. For basal bark treatments on stems less than 6 inches in diameter, it is recommended to use a backpack or knapsack sprayer.19 days agoHelpful?
Q: Is it safe around dogs*
20 days ago- AI-generated, Human-approvedA: Yes, this product is pet safe when used according to the label. You should remove all pets from the area during treatment and allow the product to dry completely before letting them resume normal activity.20 days agoHelpful?
Q: Does this work on old stumps?
23 days ago- A: Howdy neighbor! Stump Stop will not work on old, dry stumps because it is an herbicide that requires live plant tissue to function. It is designed to stop active root systems from sprouting rather than rotting away old wood. If your stump is already dead and weathered, you will want to use a decomposition accelerator.19 days agoHelpful?
