Q: The roots from a cottonwood stump (tree cut down 2 years ago) are sending up new trees in my yard. If I apply Tordon to the stump will it kill the roots and stop the roots from sending up new trees? Also, will Tordon kill the grass around the stump?
22 days ago- A: Hi Cottonmad! Applying Tordon to a 2-year-old cottonwood stump is not recommended. Tordon (picloram) is meant to be applied to fresh cuts (within 30 to 60 minutes) for the tree to draw it into the root system. Because the roots are already sending up new trees, the cut is too old, and the herbicide will not translocate effectively to kill the roots.21 days agoHelpful?
Q: If you have a tree inside or right beside a rosebush will it kill the rosebush trying to kill just the tree

2 months ago- A: Hi Srg1! Yes. It can be used to control Virginia Creeper. It is designed for cut-stump treatments on woody vines and trees. However, it is not suitable for residential lawns as it can harm or kill desirable trees and shrubs through root uptake in the soil.2 months agoHelpful?

4 months ago- A: Hi Neighbor- Weed Type Poison Sumac, Poison Oak, Poison Ivy, Locust4 months agoHelpful?
Q: How long does tordon stay active in the soil?
5 months ago- A: Hi Neighbor! Tordon (picloram) stays active in soil for a long time, potentially months to several years (up to 2-3 years or more), depending heavily on soil type, moisture, temperature, and microbial activity, with breakdown rates varying significantly from 1 week to 4 months for 50% degradation, but residual toxicity can last much longer, affecting desirable plants years later. Its persistence makes it crucial to avoid application near sensitive plants or areas where they'll be planted soon.5 months agoHelpful?
