i have sweet gum trees that line a roadway, i am about to cut them but i know they come back. so I would like to spray with them now in oct. what is the best way to do it, spray now cut later, or cut now and spray after. and what is the best formula

Asked by: n2186q
BrushTox will do it. There are several ways in our label. If they are small tree I would kill them first using the basal bark spray method outlined in the instructions. If they are large trees I would cut them and apply the BrushTox according to the instructions in the label for "cut stumps". In both cases use one part BrushTox to 3-5 parts diesel or kerosene.

What ratio is used for mixing with water for sprayers

Asked by: Deborah 65
Well it depends on how you are going to use it. If you are just going to broadcast spray it you can use up to 3 quarts per acre so you simply need to figure out how big the area is you are going to spray and use whatever amount of water it takes for your sprayer to cover that area. When I use it for broadcasting on a small area with a small sprayer I mix 2 ounces in one gallon of water and spray that over 1000 square feet. I always make sure to put it all over the area so that the right amount of chemical is sprayed. If you spraying individual brush plants I use the basal bark treatment method-spray only the bark on the trunk below the lowest limb. When I do this I mix one part BrushTox to 4 parts water or diesel.

Will this kill Chinese Privet

Asked by: dj1113
Yes it will. I use the basal bark treatment method on privet so I don't have to spray the tops. I mix it 4 parts diesel to 1 part Brushtox and spray the bark at the base of the bush below the lowest limb. It works faster if you spray it all the way around the trunk.

Do you have to use diesel to apply this product? The sprayer I have does not recommend petroleum products to be used in sprayer.

Will this kill Viburnum hedge? I have about 200 feet hedge that needs to be removed for a fence installation. Also, what mixture do I make for it to be effective.?

Asked by: Jacee
It should. I would use the basal bark treatment method. Mix the Brushtox with about 4 parts of a petroleum solvent like diesel. Apply it directly to the trucks of the hedge near the base of the plant. There is no need to spray the tops or the leaves. Depending on how fast the hedge is growing it will take a couple of weeks---maybe a month to kill the plants. Watch the leaves for signs of damage. The good thing about doing it this way is that you will have killed the roots too and there will be no regrowth if you leave a stump.
