These ridges are roughly 1/4" tall and are shaped in an "X" design, allowing for flex, but limiting the bottom side to bulge out. This product a lip that is not “sealed” so when you go empty out the water, the water gets stuck in this “lip” & the water stays in it. When you go to refill it & set it back down the dirty water comes out. Therefore you always have dirty water init

Back in 1999 I got horses and in the early 2000's I got many of the tan Behlen poly stock tanks in several different sizes, from the largest long tan that held large bales of hay to the small oval that held bags of feed that I now use for worm bins and grow beds for vegetables. I don't know if the new ones are make of the same quality material but my old ones still look brand new with no cracks. I am looking to buy a few more of the smaller ones for grow beds.

Lip prevents full draining which is a problem when using it for water for animals, Water gets stuck in lip and will not fully empty. A little disappointed as this was not inexpensive.
