Changed composition of this block

This block was great first few times I bought it. Chickens loved it. It was compromised of ALL seeds inside and out. The most recent one I bought has a diffferent composition. The seeds are still layered on the outside, but about a half inch into he block, it becomes some brownish, non-seed, almost rock hard material. My chickens are not nearly as interested in it now. Here’s a photo. I’m not buying it anymore.

Too soft won't last

The source I had been using for flock blocks discontinued carrying the brand I preferred. I thought I would try the Purina brand. Unfortunately , the Purina bock is way too soft. I drill a 1/4" hole through the center to allow me to hang the block so the hens don't sit on the block, as the drill bit exited the opposite side, a big chunk of the block fell out... Indicating this block is really soft. After hanging in the coup the hens hammered it down in a couple days, again way too soft. I suggest finding another brand that is harder so it last longer. After 25+ years of laying hens a month or so is what I expect a block to last. Maybe I had block that was not manufactured properly but I won't be trying another one.
