However, roosters and other non-laying birds do not need that much calcium. Some people separate males and females for feeding, but this can be impractical for backyard flocks. The most convenient approach is to feed a universal feed like Flock Raiser to all birds and provide calcium separately for laying hensa year agoHelpful?

I was doing my own mix of scratch, pellets, and black sunflower seeds and this has it already done for me. For my little flock this is a perfect time saver and makes it easier to give my hens a diverse feed in their diet. Only flaw is that it was only in store during chick days.
