Bought on 11/23/25. It stopped working on 1/20/26.

I bought this before it got soooo cold here in North Carolina. Thank you, God, for making me do that for my feather babies! It stays warm and helps water in the cage from freezing! It has definitely earned its price back!

I don’t understand all the negative reviews. That may be because I’ve always used this heat plate indoors rather than out in a coop. I’ve had it for several years and have used it for four different hatches without any issues—two chick hatches and two very small Muscovy duckling hatches (2–4 ducklings each). I’ve always felt much safer using this heat plate than a traditional heat lamp. The outside stays cool to the touch, while the underside provides consistent warmth right where it’s needed. As the birds become more active and curious, this feature added safety really matters. Especially with Muscovy ducklings, which grow very quickly and feather much more slowly. Remember this plate is energy-efficient and uses radiant heat, which feels more like the warmth of the sun on your skin rather than direct, harsh heat. That said, if you plan to use this outdoors for a brooder in colder temperatures, it may not be the best option.
