Works great, even with plastic waterer!

I was nervous when I first bought this because on the box it said do not use with a plastic waterer, I only have a plastic waterer. I was afraid it might get warm enough to melt the plastic. But it has been working great for about a month now. It only turns on when it gets below 35 so it saves power. I just checked in the coop, its keeping the water warm even at 19! Defiantly worth it for our cold winters

I asked if this could be used with Tractor Supply's heavy-duty 5-gallon hard plastic waterer. I was told yes. However, the instructions said different. So, I made a simple 'trivet' frame using 1x2 wood slatting. The square frame and inside cross slats assured it would sit, once placed on top of the warmer, with the corners slightly overlapping the top edge, and large enough to accommodate the bottom of the waterer. WORKS PERFECT, keeping the water thawed!!

So far meets Expectations

Purchased this a couple of weeks ago before the really cold weather (Eastern NC cold) hit. We have had temps down near 12°F and so far the water has not frozen. The water is not hot and still cool but not frozen. It's still too early to comment on the longevity of the heater but just not having to go out and get fresh unfrozen water every morning has been worth the cost.
