Bobwhite Quail is a type of quail that is native to the US and thrives in grassland areas with an abundance of cover and winter food sources. Over the last 50 years their populations have been on the decline, but these quail chicks are a great breed to raise, breed and release. These lively Bobwhite quail chicks are quick to run or fly, are fun to watch and are very talkative! Their name comes from the whistled bob-white call that is loud enough to be heard across any field or yard. These quail chicks for sale make great backyard birds when kept in an aviary with adequate perches and hiding places. Although most popularly known in hunting, their domestic qualities like the delicate eggs they lay are considered a delicacy.

I would caution you to think twice before ordering quail chicks, I ordered 30, the first order I got upon opening the box all 30 were dead, I called the hatchery and they sent 30 the next week at no charge. Opened the box 29 alive, put them under a heat lamp, dipped their beaks in water, they started to eat and drink, thought they were off to a good start, but in 5 days I’m down to only 4 alive. They are about the size/wt. of a bumblebee and will find a way to die!!! I would recommend buying adult quail. They are nothing like regular chicks. Nothing against Tractor Supply or the hatchery it just the way quail chicks are.

Baby Bobwhite Quail Purchase

The birds arrived in two days. They were baby chicks just a few days old. I put a 125 watt bulb in a 2 x 4 ft enclosure on the floor. In two weeks, I only lost two out of 30 birds for some unknown reason. They sure do eat a lot!
