Q: How do you sharpen the blade?

1 Answer
  • A: You can sharpen an axe with some knife sharpeners, but others will not be appropriate for the task. Whetstones or sharpening stones are the best knife sharpening tools that can be used on an axe. Most fixed-angle knife sharpeners do not have the correct angle for putting an effective edge on an axe.

I have had this for years and still going strong

I bought mine from tractor supply in San Benito, TX. And I have had mine for several years. I have used it with wedges, just by itself, lent it to high school kids that were having a fund raiser for a BBQ and had to split wood. This is my go to tool to break hard pieces of wood or I recommend this one highly those high school kids over struck some pieces of wood never stopped working like it should, I have also done it my self and it just got a little scratch on the boot part of the maul. This tool will do the job and last you years glad I bought this we use it on mesquite wood.

Junk

Split maybe 1/2 cord of seasoned white and red oak. Head come off. Had a fiberglass handle maul years ago and used it for 3-4 years before giving it to younger cousin. Never had an issue, not the case with this brand.
