- A: I suppose you could but its very solidly assembled. Not sure why you would want to do this as the section of the handle near the head is well padded to protect it from damage. If you want an axe with a wooden handle I would buy one that already has one.5 years agoHelpful?

Handle broke off with the axe head in the wood after 2 hours of splitting. What a piece of junk.

Lasted about a year of field use. Was fixable.

For a plasticy handle it feels pretty good in the hand. The shape is about right too. It is faily lightweight as well. It finally failed after about a year of pretty consistant use delimbing, cutting slash and the like. The potting materiel that fills the head and holds the handle in place shattered almost like glass. A bunch of shiny rock candy looking shards of black plastic came out of the head. I reset the handle with a 3M marine adhesive that worked pretty well.

GREAT VALUE FOR MONEY

AWESOME AXE FOR AN AWESOME PRICE. My partner and I used to buy axes mainly from the Bahco brand, but i am just amazed at this groundworks axe available for fraction of the cost !! It is a complete workhorse, has a very good grip and does what can be expected from low a priced axe.
