Groundwork All-Purpose Potting & Planting Soil
2 days ago
I bought the 1.5cf bag to use in some garden containers. I found this potting mix to be too coarse & chunky to use by itself in the pots. In one bag I found a few chunks of wood that were between half-dollar and silver dollar sized around, & at least 1/2" thick. There were chunks of all sizes through the mix, making it porous enough that water would probably run right through, thus drying the containers out faster. In my opinion, this would be better suited to use where you would be tilling it into garden soil to add organic matter & texture. It'd be great for that! In order to make this potting soil usable for my purposes, however, I bought another bag of a more screened potting soil, then mixed both 1/2 & 1/2. That seems to have done the trick. My pepper seedlings look fine & water retention in the containers is good. (Also mulched around the pot tops with straw to help with that.) All in all, if this potting soil has fewer big chunks it would be Ok. I'd probably use it. But the coarseness & chunkiness is why I gave this product 3 stars.

There’s no soil at all! It’s all mulch and peat moss. Very deceiving!
