A truly versatile floor drill press thanks to the angled drilling capacity. The G7946 34" Floor Radial Drill Press boasts a 1/2 HP motor that smoothly powers the five spindle speeds ranging from 550 to 3000 RPM. The headstock can be tilted 45° left, 90° right, and slid forward or backward over the column allowing you full adjustability.

To make sure that you get the best use of the table, the drill press features rack-and-pinion elevation controlsadjustable 24-1/2" vertically, 90° tilt (left and right) and is capable of 360° rotation around the column.

The G7946 can easily drill holes through plastic, fiberglass, and composites and has a maximum capacity to drill through a half inch of steel without bogging down.

The JT33 keyed drill chuck is fitted to the JT33 spindle taper and offers up to 3-1/4" of travel. The chuck accepts drill bits from 1/16"-5/8". You can set the adjustable threaded depth stop for predetermined and repeatable drilling.

The G7946 manual was written by our U.S.-based Technical Documentation Department and is packed with useful information. The complete and easy-to-read manual makes it easier to assemble and maintain your drill press.

Q&As

1 - 1 of 1 Question

Q: Will this accept various mortising attachments

2 Answers
  • A: Thank you for reaching out with your inquiry. This drill press cannot be used with mortising attachments. While an attachment may fit, the horizontal arm is prone to flexing under load, which can result in angled mortises and may even lead to failure of the upper arm bracket.

    World`s best drill press!

We needed a drill press that would drill at an angle, one that had an extended drill plate, and it also needed to have a deep throw between the bit and the drill plate. This press does it all and we are extremely happy with it as we are with ALL of our Grizzly products as well as the great service.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    Disappointing

This is the 4th Grizzly machine in my shop, and the one I am least pleased with. My main issue is the motor. 1/2 hp that draws les than 5 amps? You shouldn't be allowed to put that hp on the nameplate. I replaced a 12" drill press with a 1/3 hp motor that had a 7 amp draw. Motor will trip under load of drilling 1 3/8" counter bore with a very sharp Forstner style bit. Rest of the machine seems to be fine and lives up to my expectations.

Exactly what I was looking for! Great asset in my woodworking shop. Makes drilling wide stock a precise and easy task. Added a table with a fence and laser. I could not be happier with my purchase!
