The G0863 Grizzly Growler Cyclone Separator provides industry leading dust and wood chip separation to handle all your demanding shop needs. The design of the Grizzly Growler has been improved by adding a stand to make emptying the chips easier. The 6 in. inlet port and two 4 in. ports allow you to connect multiple machines. A sight window makes sure you know when to empty the drum and a unique vacuum equalizing system allows the use of plastic collection bags for easy chip disposal. The G0863 uses 19 in. Diameter drum collection bags (sold separately).

poor construction

Not an easy chore keeping the bottom (portable can) part in line to couple to the upper part. Flimsy connectors.

Darn thing works!

I put this inline with my 4HP G0671 and what a difference! I ran 5 sheets of plywood and MDF on the CNC and the bags on the second stage were still clean, almost zero dust made it past the cyclone. I was worried the cyclone would be undersized for the G0671, and maybe CFM is reduced slightly, but because the filters stay clean it still pulls way more air than before.
The canister is small and fills quickly, so you have to keep an eye on it. Assembly is a chore, there are a lot of parts and fit/finish is not great. My cyclone showed up with a sizeable dent that I had to bang out.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Pretty good upgrade to dust collectors without one

Pros:
Works pretty well with my shopfox dust collector
Easier than messing with the bag on the shopfox unit
Cons:
the 2 units together take up more space than a single unit that does everything
It still uses bags despite having a reasonably lightweight metal bin, and you can't skip the bag because of how the unit is designed
Overall: but a combo unit if you can, but if you already have a decent sized collector, this can be a pretty nice upgrade

I've been using my Grizzly Growler for about 6 months and I'm thoroughly impressed with the amount of dust this thing catches. It's advertised as a large particle separator but it's catching dust as fine as talcum powder. I've dumped the canister twice, but the level of dust in my collector bag hasn't increased. Note: My unit came with instructions for the old style without a stand. Be sure you have the correct instructions before you assemble or you'll be disassembling to incorporate the stand.
