Fimco 45 gal. Lawn and Garden Spot Sprayer 4.5 GPM

I purchased this spot sprayer to fit in the back of my UTV, which it does rather well. I read the reviews and was surprised that it was not as highly rated, after all, it is only a big plastic container with a few connections and an electric pump… What could go wrong? I was disappointed with the stainless steel hose clamps, as they are as small, and as skimpy as can be… But for the most part, they do the job, but I did have to replace the one on the wand, as it just would not hold, and would start leaking in the middle of application. Replacing all of these cost about eight dollars, and it is worth the upgrade for a wider and stronger hose clamp. The pump itself is very strong and is what makes using the unit worthwhile and cost-effective. I would strongly recommend getting a inline strainer, for about 15 bucks, and it should’ve been included in the purchase/package. If you plan on making this a portable tank as I have, I would strongly recommend getting straps on each end of the tank, as it is almost impossible to move, even empty because it is so bulky. I would strongly recommend to the manufacturer to create indents or handles in the plastic mold, especially if you’re going to advertise this as a portable tank. The straps take care of this issue. The problem with using this as a portable tank is that the drain plug and drain outlet are about a quarter inch too low below the bottom of the molded tank and when I move the tank, the cap instantly come loose creating gallons of herbicide draining inside my UTV… The screw on cap is pretty much useless and I purchased one for about two dollars that holds much better with lots and lots of PVC tape. But the threads on the drain were not properly made/threaded when the plastic tank was made, and the threads have some difficulty holding the newer/better drain cap on there. I am going to have to redesign the drain/glue a new one on for a better cap to with stand the movement of the tank without dumping the fluid. Raising the tank by placing something underneath the tank, helps protect the drain plug, and cap from coming loose. If you are going to mount this on a trailer or a permanent location, this may not be as much of an issue. But eventually the threads will give away on the drain cap if other tanks are made the same. The price is really great and the unit is worthwhile if you don’t mind the limited modifications needed.

This 45 gallon spot sprayer makes short work around my 10 acre property. I just mounted on my UTV and away I go. Glad I got it, and I would definitely recommend it.

I have had this a couple of weeks and the pressure gage has already failed. Concerned about the quality of the rest of the sprayer

Pump failed after about 5 hours of operation.
