Q&As

Q: What is the height distance from the feed ports to the ground?

1 Answer
  • A: Standard protein and gravity dispensers on similar large-capacity ground-standing steel feeders typically position the feeding ports at an optimal 36 to 42 inches off the ground for adult deer access, though the exact drop-down height for this specific model's actuator chute is proprietary

Good

Wanted to test it before taking it into the field and noticed the gate didnt close all the way and feed could still get into the feeder heads. Took it back to exchange but tested the one I was going to exchange it for and that one had the same problem. The TSC manager noticed the timer went to zero before the gate could close so he toggled down to the reset option and that fixed the problem. Took mine back home and I guess it reset itself once I took the battery out and plugged it back in.

Overall great except timer.

Overall very solid. Easy to assemble, looks to be built well, packaging was great. Installed in 30 minutes. Directions were good. 2 issues, freight company took twice as long to deliver to store what was said time of order. Timer is not 1 to 30 seconds, opens at time set, closes at time set but minimum of 1 minute, not able to lower to smaller amount of time door is open.

Wiring issue

Well constructed and easy to assemble. However I had a major issue right away. Either the motor or the timer was incorrectly wired and the feeder would open on the closed setting and open on the closed setting. I did not catch this upon setting up and had to empty all the feed to troubleshoot and fix the issue. I had to switch the white and blue wires going to the motor to correct the issue and allow the feeder to function as intended. It would have been much easier to do this before I had filled it with feed, so make sure that yours is funtioning correctly before you fill it with your feed of choice. Besides that time will tell how this feeder holds up, but I think it seems sturdy and should not have any further issues after I fixed the wiring problem. Happy hunting
