Q: Recently purchased this generator. Only going to run it on propane from a dedicated 420# / 120g tank. Besides the supplied regulator, what other regulator is needed if any?

Originally posted on duromaxpower.com

1 Answer
  • A: The XP13000EH is designed for use with the two-stage regulator system it comes with, and that the hose included in the box must be in-line during operation. That hose is expecting to receive 3 PSI or more in order to operate, regardless of the tank size. You will want to consult with your propane installer if any adapters or additional regulators are required for your setup.

Q: Model: XP13000EH Question: The schematic for this unit shows a 30 amp circuit breaker on the 50amp outlets circuit, how can this unit put out the rated wattage when its on a 30amp protected circuit?

  • A: The XP13000EH features a 43.75A main circuit breaker, sized for 100% rated load on gasoline. The wiring diagram discrepancy has been reported and will be updated for clarity.

Unfortunately, whoever designed this system didn't account for the battery DRAINING while the battery switch is on. Soooooo, yes, the battery will charge while running, but you better go shut off the battery switch before long, or the battery will be dead again. Best to put a full size car battery next to the unit and splice it in.

Q: Specifically, how many shipping brackets are there? I saw the red one and removed it. There was no wood bracket, but I see a label next to the oil inlet that says 'remove this shipping bracket.' However, it is painted black, 4 of them, remove them?

  • A: Hi, I purchased my 13000 2yrs ago. I only removed the orange shipping bracket and nothing else. It's been working flawlessly. Again, this was 2yrs ago so it is possible they could have added another one. You should probably call Duromax or review current YouTube videos. Hope this helps

Change the Oil Daily?!

Everything seems to work so far. It's pretty disappointing that it literally wants you to change the oil EVERY DAY (every 20 hours of usage). That's a bit ridiculous.

generator

The generator is working but when it arrived the box was torn up and there was a dent in the metal part around the starter. I do hope it continues to just be a cosmetic issue and nothing else.

Powerful Generator However!

I bought this generator approximately 4 years ago and it’s not a bad machine. The down side to this generator is to automate choke feature which is a terrible design and the weakest feature for this generator. Should have never put a stepper motor on this weak of a carburetor, when engine back fires when trying to start on propane and wipes out the stepper motor and carburetor. A old time hand choke would have been a better option to avoid the awful backfire damage. A hotter spark plug only works so long before it becomes weak and is not a fix to the overall issue.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Love propane fuel - No carburetor residue.

Bought my generator over a year ago for use during hurricanes. Have not had to use it for that purpose. Only used for periodic testing to ensure that it still runs.

Yes, I recommend this product.

It ran ok twice

The generator ran great twice then quit putting out power. I replaced the brushes and voltage regulator and started it up. It was putting out 120/240. I thought everything was great. I fired it up the next week to check it and smoke started coming from the windings and it burnt out. Not going to try to repair it anymore.

No, I do not recommend this product.
