Special Precautions

• Swabs and forceps are helpful in application.
• If DMSO absorbs through the animal's skin, it will result in an unpleasant taste in the mouth and breath odor.
• Some people exposed to this drug have experienced mild erythematous generalized or localized dermatitis, itching, burning, warm sensations, drowsiness, or mild sedation. In these cases, symptomatic treatment is the antidote.
• If any side effects occur, seek immediate veterinary attention.

• Generally, side effects are local. While they might be irritating to the animal, they are typically non-severe. When topically applied, sometimes the animal will develop short-term erythema resulting in local smarting or burning. Vesiculation and erythema are usually reversible and self-limiting, requiring no withdrawal of medication.
