DMSO Gel delivers 99% pure dimethyl sulfoxide, a naturally-derived substance from wood pulp, to reduce arthritis inflammation and pain, allows medications to easily penetrate the barrier of the skin, and is useful in treating cerebral edema.

Special Precautions

• Wear rubber gloves to apply the product. It can penetrate rapidly.
• Do not freeze.
• Keep cap tightly closed when not in use.
• Hygroscopic product.
• Do not use in animals intended for food slaughter.
• Do not allow physical contact with this gel.
• This solvent is potent and can have a damaging effect on plastics, fabrics, and other types of material.
• Do not use in breeding animals.
• Do not use under any occlusive dressing.
• Only for topical use. Never administer in any other way.
• Keep away from children.
• This product can enhance the absorption of other nearby materials into the animal's skin. Do not allow any other medications to be present before or during application.
• Swabs and forceps can help ease application.
• When absorbed into the skin, this product can cause an unpleasant taste in the mouth and bad breath.
• After exposure to this product, some people may experience mild erythematous generalized or localized dermatitis, itching, irritation, burning, warm sensations, drowsiness, or sedation. In these cases, the symptoms should be treated.
• If any sign of an adverse reaction are present, notify your veterinarian.
• Signs of certain medical conditions can be masked by this product. Underlying conditions should still be appropriately treated.
• Because this product is known to alter the biologic membrane, it can facilitate absorption of other topical drugs and can cause potentiating effects on other medications. It should be administered with caution to animals receiving treatment with any other pharmaceutical preparation, particularly those that affect the central nervous or cardiovascular system.

• Side effects are usually local. While irritating, they are generally not severe. When topically used, animals could develop short-term erythema resulting in local smarting or burning. Both vesiculation and erythema are usually reversible and self-limiting, requiring no medication withdrawal.
• Oyster-like breath odor and/or skin dryness are possible. These symptoms are temporary and non-severe.
• Changes can occur to the eye lens refractive index, and nuclear cataracts are also possible. This is thought to be related to therapy duration and dosage.
