Cuisinart Stainless Steel Custom Classic Toaster Oven Broiler

I absolutely love my toaster oven. It is big enough to hold an 8x8 casserole dish which is what I usually use. The only drawback is that it is hard to read the indicator buttons which are all black with a small edge.

I have had 2 Toaster Ovens over the past 18 years and was extremely satisfied with quality of product & design, simplicity in controls and performance. But this model fails in all categories. I do regret my purchase.

Our experience with a previous Cuisinart toaster/oven was excellent. After years, replacing it with another Cuisinart was the obvious choice, with price as an important consideration. The difference with the new one is that it has a less solid, lighter feel than the previous one. However, that is the only downside. The new one heats more quickly, and has the added convenience of a hook on the door that partially pulls out the grill when the door is opened. The bottom crumb tray is far more convenient, retractable as a drawer on the outside, instead of needing to reach into the heating chamber to extract it. The ticking, analog timer is gone. Instead of turning the toast shade/timer to start heating, it requires only pressing a button. Like the old one, a red light illuminates to tell you that it's working. No ticking, no friendly bell when toasting is completed. A quick, quiet electronic signal tells you when it's done. Toasting is very fast. We find that the "shade" knob needs only to be set less than halfway between "light" and "medium" to get fully toasted bread. The heating elements of this new one are enclosed in ventilated tubes, rather than uncovered. If this unit lasts as long as the previous one, it is a bargain.

I bought this toaster oven in September 2025. It was very good until recently. Less than a year later the red “on”light starts to flash at times and smoke comes out of the toaster oven.
