Rated 1 out of 5 by from poor quality We captured one ground hog. It did its best to escape but in the process severely cut itself and bent the metal plate that trips the mechanism to shut the door. The ground hog survived and is living in a wooded area away from houses now. I took the cage apart to clean and straighten the plate. I noticed that some of the welds have come apart so wires needed to be straightened and put back in position. the cage works but is real sensitive. An animal could trip it just by walking into the cage! This thing needs a better plate that is folded so its not a sharp edge. Folding would make it less susceptible to bending. It also needs a much better spring mechanism. The spring on there is able to move along the bar and come dislodged, making the trap worthless. Without the spring in the right position the door will not slam shut no matter how much the animal stands on the plate. CountyLine, with just a bit more effort you could be making a really decent trap. Our you folks just not proud enough to make something worth the money people shell out? I don't get making an inferior product. Charge $5 more and make something that will last through 10 or 12 animals!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Won’t trap a feral cat I bought this today to catch a feral cat that I have been feeding and want to keep. He freely enters and leaves and the trap stays open, I had to strike it fairly hard with a stick to get it to close. Will return to store when I can. Worthless. I trapped feral cats in the past, but gave the trap away when we moved

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Can't set trap after 1 catch. I see a lot of people commenting that they can't trigger the trap. I'm having the opposite problem. After catching a single coon, the trap catch will no longer set.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from worthless I bought this item three weeks ago to catch a woodchuck. It came with no instructions but I thought I could figure it out. The large woodchuck eats the food but the trap doesn't release. I even tried slamming a metal rod on the plate and it still won't release. Based on other reviews, everyone has this problem. Can you send instructions by email so I can see if I am doing anything wrong. At this point I doubt that I will ever shop in your stores again if this is the quality of items you sell.

is there a way to make the trigger to be more sensitive?

You can try to spray WD40 on the spring on the top trap. This should help.

how do you set the tension on release pad. takes too much pressure to set it off.

Asked by: checkmate
This trap is designed for mid-sized animals like raccoons, foxes, stray cats and groundhogs so if the tension on release pad doesn’t weigh as much as a mid-sized animal then the trigger may not be set off.
