Rated 1 out of 5 by from Buy a Havahart Returned this trap within a few days of purchase. Even though it's rated to catch squirrels, the trip pad requires much more weight to close the door....the squirrels walked in, ate the bait and walked out! The CountyLine Live Animal Cage Trap that I purchased was very poorly made. The door spring mechanism was out of square and didn't latch in the closed position when I tripped it by hand. Any animal that wandered into the trap and was heavy enough to trip it could have easily pushed the door open and left. I checked the remaining stock in the store and they were all as poorly made as the one I bought. I spent $5 more and bought the Havahart brand. I am very impressed with the construction and how easy it is to use. The squirrels must be impressed too....even though I haven't caught any, they won't go near the garden now that the Havahart trap is there!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Junk The trip lever has a spring that has to be removed for animals to activate it. Also the holes in the cage 1"x1". Big enough for a chipmunk to get right through.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Trap needs trigger modification to work properly I had the same problem as many of you did. The trigger mechanism was way to hard to activate to be really effective. I removed the tension retainer plate (bottom of cage) and spring (bottom of trigger plate) that keeps the trap pedal in an upright position and now I have a hair trigger trip mechanism that works. It's so sensitive now that a fruit fly will trigger the unit.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from GREAT FOR FEEDING SKUNKS I purchased this to relocate a skunk we have around our shop. so far it has removed 2 cans of food without setting off the trap. One can was wired in. The spring mechanism is too heavy for this small trap. Buy a havahart, much better quality. should have read the reviews

How much weight is needed to trigger the gate to shut? Could a small kitten?

Asked by: alyssa23418
The gate can be triggered to shut with a slight weight so if a small kitten stands on the trigger pad the gate will be shut.
