Q: Does it trap mice too?

1 Answer
  • A: No, these traps are not effective for mice. The mesh dimensions are too large to contain them, and mice are often too light to trigger the sensitive mechanism.

It Works!

This 2 pack set is well worth the money. The poor reviews by a couple of people had me wondering if they were any good. I checked them out in the store and was satisfied they would work. There is nothing about these traps that can't be adjusted with a pair of pliers. I guess if you can't figure out how to use it, then you probably should call a professional like " Billy the Exterminator". I had a squirrel running around in my attic. I set the smaller of the traps, baited it with some Peter Pan Honey Roast peanut butter with some oatmeal mixed in. It didn't take long to catch the little guy. Now on to catch Mr, Rabbit who is terrorizing my garden!

Design needs work

Bought a set of 3 sizes of these from TSC about 4 years ago. While they do work, occasionally, there are just SO many times that the doors will not trip and the bait is gone. Another waste of bait, another waste of my time, and another day of problems caused by the errant animal. It's not so bad if this happens once or twice, but every day for over 2 weeks? The problem is the tripping mechanism is an extremely poor/cheap design. I've tried and tried to adjust/rebend/tweak, but the problem on at least one of them is the actual geometry of the design causes it to malfunction. Today was an even more frustrating first. Found the medium size trap UPSIDE DOWN, no bait, and the door still set and NOT TRIPPED! One other thing I do not like about them is the fact that the back of the trap does not open to put in the bait. Yes, I understand that is a cost consideration to be able to supply them at the low price. However, it is difficult to have to hold the trap door open with one hand and put the bait in. I've installed empty cat food cans in them, tied down, and put the bait under a string that holds the can in so that the animal is forced to tug at the bait to get it out, in an effort to get the animal to put more weight/force on the trigger plate, since the traps will not spring effectively. Even then, they still do not trip. I cannot recommend these traps based on this, and am actively now looking for different traps that will not have this problem.

The trap works and does not harm the animal. Used it to catch a wily groundhog!

Absolute garbage. Had a raccoon in the first hour eat the food, trip the door and back out. Clearly his tail prevented the door from locking and he backed out. Put more bait in and had him again within 10 minutes. Covered the cage overnight until I had a chance to deal with him in the morning and he was gone. Door locked behind him. These traps are garbage.

Incredible Tool - at an incredible DEAL

This was my first twirl with capturing cats. The traps helped me to (kindly) capture a whole litter, to get them to excellent care for spaying, and to return them, for the time being, to one of my properties as very happy (and well fed) barn cats. The quality is superb, and the cost unbelievably low for such an excellent product. Moreover, it's a wonderful thing to have around to quickly mobilize for future needs, or even to help others with similar circumstances. This is an absolutely incredible invention for the resolution of a problem it will not cure itself, but only get worse.

Caught the racoon no damage to cage. (Easy peasy)

The larger cage of the two caught a fairly good sized racoon. He or she did not destroy the cage as others have written. The critter did try through the bottom of the cage but no damage to the cage or trap door. Others complain about not being able to get the bait back past the metal trip. It's easy, just get a small paper plate, put some cat food in it. Once placed in the cage you can get a long stick like a garden stake and push the paper plate past the metal trip. To release we got a short bungy cord and hooked it to the bottom of the door. As we began to release the door we pulled up on the bungy cord to keep our hands away from the opening as the racoon ran out.

Yes, I recommend this product.
