Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Every Time I have had this product for several years. Eliminated my problem for quite a while. Loaned it to friends who had the same result. Noticed I had squirrels once again. Set the trap out, baited with the cheapest dry dog food I could buy. Result, 14 squirrels in five days. Set it up in a quiet area, next to holes or away. Does not matter. Great, Great, Great, product!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from No luck yet Maybe my expectations are too high but I have put it out 2 days in a row to trap the ground squirrels. The squirrels who have homes near the trap are ignoring it. I used "Sweet cob" as suggested by the store employee.. Today I added a little peanut butter . Nothing!!! I have done it all right. Maybe these squirrels are packed with food for the winter. Any suggestions would be appreciated.. My little acre of land is a wreck because of these critters along with chipmunks too. I miss all my flowers!! I have lived here for 20 years and it looks like I have never done any landscaping. Thanks for letting me vent.

What is the best cage for catching flying squirrels? What is the best bait to use?

Asked by: maxwelton
The Squirrelinator is good for the flying squirrel. As for bait, you'll want to offer whatever they're currently eating or something slightly better than that. Hope that answers your question.

Will this work for the small red squirrels or is it designed for the larger gray squirrels?

Asked by: akoscies
It will work for most squirrels including red squirrels, however, if there are a lot of juvenile red squirrels and you're concerned they might get out, you could try the Chimunkinator instead. One caution is that if you use the Chipmunkinator, the adult squirrels might not be able to get in the trap.

What is the best bait to use in the trap? Available in a local grocery or other store.

Asked by: Doofus
Sorry for the delay in responding, this one fell through the cracks. There's really no best bait. You need to offer them something equal to or better than what they are currently use to eating. Many have success using scratch, bird feed mix, cracked walnuts, dog food etc...

What is the best bait to use?

Asked by: Bill1687
The best bait is whatever they're use to eating or something better. For example, a avocado grove will put a cut avocado in the trap saving the squirrels the energy to peel to eat the avocado, or if they're eating your tomatoes, you can put a cut tomato in the trap too. If they're eating your bird seed out of your bird feeder then use the same bait.

is this a good use for catching chipmunks also? Are the holes perhaps too large for chipmunks to stay trapped?

Asked by: AnnieBC
Yes the Squirrelinator is specifically designed for any type of squirrels. You can get the Chipmunkinator to catch chipmunks. Tractor Supply sells our Chipmunkinator online as well as in many stores.
