Great trap

I bought this trap a few months ago and have caught several possums and several cats. Add a little bait and it works great. Not sure why the bad reviews, it has worked great for me. I do add a little oil to the spring and the moving parts and have had no problems. Well worth the money.

Do NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT

I have one of these so called great live traps here. It has been all but destroyed by any animals it has caught. The last one in it ..a racoon which it is designed for tore part of the bottom out and destroyed the trigger mechanism beyond repair. I would never buy another type of trap from Tractor Supply...I only wish they would give me a refund for a major defective item..

I love this thing! I have a sanctuary for cats with leukemia. One of my new cats got behind the dryer, tore out the ductwork and went under the house. He couldn’t get out so I knew he was safe. But he also couldn’t get back in the house. I tried for three days to get this little booger out. Putting food and water out so that he at least had that. Finally I ordered this trap. It didn’t work the first time because I set it wrong so of course the door didn’t go down when he went in there to eat the food. Once I corrected that mistake, he was in there within 15 minutes. Now he’s in the house and warm and fed, and the door to the utility room is shut and the repairman will be here to fix the ductwork Monday!

I needed it for a stray dog but the dog would never go in it. Then the dog ran away. It works great just not what I needed it for.

I haven't used this trap, yet, but there is no safe way to release an animal. I don't know if it will trap a semi-feral cat, but my initial impression is I am going to get bit, on release, if it does.
