Q&As

1 - 8 of 8 Questions

Q: Best way to flatten it out? I’ve had weight on it for over a week and still rolling up.

1 Answer
  • A: Howdy neighbor! To quickly flatten out your Cardinal Pet Door Shield, you need to use gentle heat from a hair dryer, a warm bathtub, or direct sunlight to relax the plastic's rolled-up memory. Simply apply the heat evenly across the shield until it softens, then immediately lay it flat under heavy weights like books or bricks while it cools down. This thermal reset will permanently snap the curl out of the plastic so it mounts smoothly and securely against your door.

Q: is blue film on both sides of sheet? how do you remove it?

1 Answer
  • A: Howdy neighbor! The protective film is indeed located on both sides of the sheet, and it must be removed to reveal the crystal-clear plastic underneath. You can easily peel it off by sticking a piece of strong tape to an outer corner and lifting upward to pull the backing away. For the best results, peel one side off before applying your adhesives, then pull the second side off once the shield is mounted to your door.

Works great

Large enough to cover most of my exterior glass door. Keeps my GSD from scratching the glass when he wants in. Especially nice that it doesn’t attach to the door knob. The only negative is that it was difficult to remove the red tape from the adhesive strip. Highly recommend this product.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Save your glass

I had assumed this was a rigid sheet, but it is flexible and comes in a roll. We measured and cut, then used the double sided adhesive squares to mount this on the exterior of our new sliding door. In our case, we wanted to prevent scratches not only to the glass but also the vinyl frame. Be aware that if you intend to use it on sliding doors, it will catch and come off if you also wish to protect the frame. It worked well and is saving us the cost of replacing the glass next year.

Yes, I recommend this product.
