American FarmWorks Poly Wire, 1320 ft., PW1320Y6-AFW is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 40.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Effective and easy to work with. I feel like Goldie Locks. First I tried the light aluminum wire and while it was easy to work with it broke too easily. Nest I tried heavy steel wire and while it didn't break it was very stiff and too hard to work with. Yesterday I took out the steel wire and put in the poly wire and it is "just right". I don't have a track record as to how long it will last but it is very easy to work with. We use it around the garden to keep rabbits and chickens out. It conducts electricity well and is easy to take down and put up so I can take it down to use the tiller and put it up afterward. It stretches enough so I would have had to use the rubber gate handles. I could have just used "S" hooks. Time will tell but right now I couldn't be happier with the product .

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Awful product We ran this around our yard just like we have with metal wire. When we turned on the power, very little electricity ran through. We attempted to fix with no success. No way it would even make my horses flinch. We had to take it all down and use the metal wire. I wanted the yellow to stand out so people would recognize the fence, but it won't work.

Can I use this wire double to keep a few cows in a temporarily pasture

Asked by: garstrom
This wire can be used to contain cows. We recommend a minimum voltage of 2,000 to 3,000 volts on the fence line for cattle.

I have a 14 gauge galvanized steel wire as a perimeter fence around my pasture. I want to divide the pasture into eight paddocks. Can this Polywire be connected successfully to the galvanized wire to get the needed charge for the paddock fencing.

Asked by: Raosufan
Cross fencing can be added within your perimeter fence, however, we do not recommend the mixing of different wire types such as a solid stranded wire and a polywire.

I need to stop raccoons from eating the apples off a tree in my garden.  Can this be pegged down on the ground around the tree base and plugged into an outlet? I’ve tried a chicken wire fence around the tree, but they climb over it.

Asked by: Lisa1234
When used as directed, this product can be used for raccoons. Please feel free to contact our Consumer Relations Team at 1-855-592-7322 with any questions or for further assistance.

I have 4 strands of polywire around a 2 acre garden.  Everything is hooked up as directed.  Testing the wire, I have 5k volts on all strands. I can hold the wire with very little shock.  Why and is this right?

Asked by: Jimmy6708
If the fence tester is reading 5,000 volts on all strands, then that is an excellent sign your fence is working. If you are not feeling the shock when touching the fence, it is likely that you are being insulated by your shoes.

Can this be used to keep large dogs from digging under a fence?

Asked by: Jes76667
As long as there is enough voltage on the wire, it can be used to help contain dogs. We recommend a minimum of 700 -1000 volts on the fence for pets.

Will this wire work with a steady electric stream or is it only made for pulsating elwctric

Asked by: Kbwm1234
We recommend using a high powered, low impedance, pulsating energizer with this wire.
