For over 60 years XTRATUF has been equipping commercial fishermen with Alaska proven footwear and boots. As fishing has evolved over the years so have the fishermen's needs, therefore we continue to innovate and solve for how our boots can help our users stay safe, feel confident, and remain comfortable. Our iconic Legacy boot has been around since the late 50's and our users are now wearing them in more environments and for more reasons than ever before. These new demands warrant innovation and so we integrated modern technologies and design features into the classic and well proven style. The Legacy Altitude is an all-terrain version of our classic Legacy boot. Built on a new outsole with multi-traction lugs designed for all terrain adventures while still maintaining SRA slip resistant when you find yourself back on wet and slippery decks. The outsole lugs are specifically designed to flex and shed debris as you move. 100% waterproof and constructed with our signature triple dipping technique, which creates a seamless and flexible barrier that is highly resistant to many organic and inorganic acids, chemicals, and contaminants The Altitude also features additional shin, ankle, and heel reinforcement to provide enhanced protection and durability.

  • 100% Waterproof
  • Oil/Acid/Chemical Resistant Triple dipped latex neoprene rubber
  • Open cell foam insert for all day comfort
  • SRA Slip resistant lugged traction outsole
  • Lug traction multi surface terrain

Nearly perfect, with one huge flaw

I have hade these boots for nearly 2 years now. They were my first pair of extratufs, and initially I loved them. The pros: incredibly durable. I wear them for everything, short hikes in sloppy weather, field work, chore boots etc. They have held up through everything I've thrown at them and have remained waterproof. The traction is incredible, they function as nimble hiking boots even on wet, leaf-covered rocks. They're superb. Theyre a bit cold, yes, this is true, but I purchased the sokkets and for most applications they are great, if it is seriously cold then I just wear my legitimate insulated winter boots rated to -20. These still work in a pinch for winter chores or a quick walk in negative temps. But here's the dealbreaker for me. The calf is HUGE. It catches rain, snow, debris etc. I don't really get it, If I am bushwacking, I tend to accumulate tons of sticks and leaves in the boot. If it is raining hard, it rains directly INTO THE BOOT. If it is snowing, it snows in the boot, if you are wearing snowshoes it flings snow into the boot. So while the boot is incredibly waterproof, that becomes moot because snow and rain just enters via the incredibly wide calf. If i'm wearing the right type of pants I can just pull my legs over the top, but most of the time this isn't practical. The wide calf makes them nice for slipping on and off if I'm bringing a load of firewood in, but I wish there was a way to either cinch it oor otherwise tighten it I really love these boots! The irony is that most other boots I've used have terrible traction and wrose durability, whereas these meet those needs but are just too sloppy to buy again. Bummer, because these seem like they'll still last quite awhile, but the functionality is hard to reconcile. I will probably try the normal legacy boots that seem to have a tighter calf.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Hello, thank you so much for your review! We truly appreciate you taking the time to provide us with your feedback. While we regret to hear about the trouble the width of the calf has caused you, we're happy to hear that they have still served you well and we hope that you enjoy our standard Legacy model if you do decide to give them a go! If there is anything we could do to help or improve your experience, please let us know by calling us at 1-800-848-9452 or emailing us at xtratufcustomersupport@rockybrands.com. We're happy to help!

Best uninsulated boots I've ever used.

Best uninsulated boots I've ever used. Just did a 10 day fall canoe trip in these. Not one blister, not one slip. Fit is good and has room for medium socks. I have a wide foot and narrow heel and they fit me just fine. Rare. Fold down feature is a game changer when it's hot. Traction on slippery rocks was really good - better than all other brands. A bit on the heavy side and the calf is a bit floppy on my legs when walking but probably good for most folks. On and off was easier and simpler than I expected. I replaced the insoles with Superfeet and that made a huge difference in overall fit and feel but the original insoles would have been fine for yardwork. Super happy! Glad I spent the money and would recommend to anyone.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Fantastic boots, NOT FOR COMMERCIAL FISHING

All around great boot. Durable. Confortable, well designed. But not for commercial fishing. The blocky land boot style sole catches web. And frankly the soles are not as grippy on deck as the legacies. Makes a great outdoor/hiking/boot. Bring back the un-insulated nxt’s.

Yes, I recommend this product.
