Cast iron cap , must turn while pounding

I have ruined two of these by not keeping up with turning the cap every five poundings. You also must use teflon tape evenly. I am going to try a stainless steel 4 inch nipple next as the cap thread deform then the end of the pipe peals back inward and gets the cap stuck so it can't be removed. On the first cap I did manage to get it off and saw the threads that failed were at the skirt of the cap, not deep inside. Even when the pipe threads fail, you can still pound with the eight pound sledge hammer but it does not make the same progress as the cap is loose and a positive hammer hit is not happening, you get a partial hit. Good product, but learn how it works.

Broke easily

I bought this to drive a well in my barn, you are supposed to be able to drive it with a sledge hammer but it failed after only driving 3ft of pipe . the whole top broke out . I finished the job with a regular Steel pipe cap
