- A: Thank you for sharing your concerns. Although our Little Red Hen Barn is intended for outdoor use, the life of the product could be extended by placing it in a protected area. This will also give your chickens a more comfortable experience. Another option for extending the life of the product is to reapply a coat of non-toxic water based stain yearly (possibly more often in a severe climate). Additionally, we ask that you contact us right away if you observe a product that is not performing as it should. If contacted within 30 days (and this time-frame can be extended on a case by case basis) we can better determine the reasons for the non-performance and possibly make recommendations or send replacements. This house is very pretty and works for what I need. I have medium sized hens. It might be a little small for larger size chickens. The slide out ramp and pan are flimsy but for the most part, I’m very happy with my purchase.
