Q: Can it be sprayed with an airless sprayer if so does it have to be thined and if so with what?
a year ago- A: Absolutely, Gary! Rust-Oleum Specialty Farm and Implement Paint can be thinned for spray application, if necessary, with mineral spirits. For brush, roller, or airless spray application, thinning is not normally required. For airless spraying, if thinning is needed, thin up to 5% by volume. For air-atomized spray, thin up to 15% by volume. Do not thin with gasoline, lacquer thinner, or turpentine. Follow these guidelines, but refer to the spray equipment manufacturer’s instructions for oil-based paint; for airless spraying, the pump ratio is 30:1, fluid pressure is 1,600-2,400 psi, fluid tip is 0.013-0.017, and filter mesh is 100. For air-atomized spraying, the fluid tip is 0.055-0.070, fluid delivery is 10-16 oz./min. (if applicable), and pressure is 25-60 psi. — Rust-Oleum Product Support 15a year agoHelpful?
Q: How do you thin this primer
a year ago- A: Hi, Dale. We're happy to help! For spray application of Rust-Oleum Specialty Farm and Implement Paint, we recommend thinning only the paint that you are going to use for this project and gradually thinning only as much as necessary using mineral spirits. The maximum amount of mineral spirits to use is 15% by volume for air-atomized spray and 5% by volume for airless spray. — Rust-Oleum Product Support 15a year agoHelpful?
Q: How long would this resist rusting if a take time while finishing the body work before I apply a topcoat
a year ago- A: That is a good question, Dan, and the answer can vary depending on if the primed piece is stored indoors in climate-controlled conditions or if it’s outdoors and exposed to the elements. The sooner you can apply a topcoat to a piece primed with Rust-Oleum Specialty Farm and Implement Primer, the better. The longer you go, the more likely the surface is to get contaminated, causing topcoat adhesion issues and for rusting to begin. We recommend waiting no more than 7 days, at the most. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 15a year agoHelpful?
Q: Is this primer designed to be rolled on and/or sprayed on like the paint? Or only recommended to spray
