The Pirtle Nursery Kousa Dogwood is an elegant flowering tree blanketed in creamy flowers perfect for any landscape. The handsome foliage turns red-purple in fall and vibrant red berries provide food for wildlife. In the winter the unique, multicolored bark becomes more evident. The Kousa Dogwood has a shallow root system which make it a perfect choice to plant near homes without having the fear of any roots damaging the structure. It is disease resistant and low maintenance.

Very Happy!

I was expecting a ho hum specimen when I ordered but I got an great looking tree with handwritten instructions from the grower to open the box top and let air out while waiting to be picked up. It was lovely and I played it as soon as I got home. Can’t wait for spring 2021. Thanks to the grower, Pirtle, and Tractors Supply for following the directions and for helping me into my car. Both trees were in excellent condition ( I also bought a redbud tree I’m happy with too). Don’t hesitate to order plants from them. I will order again for myself and for gifts for others. Thanks, Gail Lam, Lexington, Kentucky 08/2020

No roots-tree did not survive

I was excited to find the last dogwood tree available at my local TSC store. Sadly, when I went to plant it in the ground, I realized that it had a very poor root system. worse than if you were to purchase a bare root tree. The roots looked like they had been cut off. The few small leaves that it had have turned brown and droopy. i am still caring for it, in hopes that it may come back to life, but will likely have to buy another one next year. Hopefully I will find them sooner and be able to choose a more vigorous tree.

Super shape!

I would rank this tree higher than three stars, it’s a beautiful shape and is thriving and it’s new location! We had one run over by a reindeer, ha ha, so this was our replacement tree and it is so much prettier than the one that was destroyed. Love this nursery everything is always in good shape and does well.
