The Pirtle Nursery Japanese Redleaf Maple provides magnificent color within a landscape. With its reddish-purple leaves in spring turning a brilliant red in fall it becomes a focal point in any yard. A smaller deciduous tree with a slow to medium growth rate. The Japanese Redleaf Maple has shown deer and rabbit resistance. Leaves can scorch in hot weather unless they have some shade or irrigation during dry weather. The further north the more direct sunlight that can be tolerated. Never allow water to stand at the roots.

  • Includes one Japanese Redleaf Maple tree in a #5 pot (3.74 gal.) and detailed planting instructions.
  • The Japanese Redleaf Maple has reddish-purple leaves in spring turning a brilliant red in fall.
  • Best grown in USDA Hardiness Zones 5-8.
  • Plant in full sun or partial sun. Prefers slightly acidic, well-drained soil.
  • Mature height and width will be 15-20 feet. When planting space 20-25 feet apart.
  • #5 size pot has actual size of 14.165 Liters (3.74 gal.)

  • A: Hello. Our Japanese Redleaf Maples are grown from acer palmatum seedlings. These do not undergo the budding process.

The tree I received was dead. I tried to return and replace it and they said the system wouldn’t let them. I had to buy a replacement and customer service never responded to my request for a refund
