The PetSafe Pet Door allows you to control your pet's access. When set to automatic mode, only your pets wearing the Electronic Pet Door Key can pass through the Pet Door. As your pet enters the range of the door, the Electronic Pet Door detects the key and unlocks automatically. The range is adjustable up to 3 feet. After your pet passes through the Pet Door, it will lock automatically helping to keep the house pets in and outdoor animals out. Trust PetSafe to help keep your pet healthy, safe and happy.

Q: Does the door lock from both ends to keep out smart animals, like racoons? My last pet door with keyed entry only kept the racoons from pushing the door in, but not from pulling the door outward with their claws and getting in that way.

Great idea, poor reliability. My 4th door has just failed. It was replaced feb 25 under warranty. 1st and 3rd failures were the batteries draining and getting hot, 2nd and 4th were permanent red light and loud noises coming from mechanism.
Keeps my cat from getting out, whilst allowing dog access. Nothing else really on the market, so either i treat it as a consumable item and expect to replace it every 18-24 months, or get an alternative and a new back door installed.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Top hinge is terrible

The top hinge is junk it breaks easily and they don’t make a replacement forces you to purchase another door because hole size is an odd ball size they need to make the top hinge out or medal or a sturdier material if they fix this issue then the door would be great I bought the first door bought a new one and it happened to the second as well very disappointing

No longer works in less than a year

The battery compartment connections appear to have some how rusted out in less than a year. Yes, the battery compartment is faceing the inside of the house.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Breaking already!

Haven’t even owned it for a year and it’s all ready broken. It’s breaking where the hinges are, and won’t shut properly anymore.
