A: Hi Dave! Thanks for reaching out about how many bags of Miracle-Gro Raised Bed Soil you'll need for your garden. We're happy to help you figure that out! Since we don't know what unit of measurement you're using for your garden size, we've put together some information to help you calculate the amount you'll need. A 1.5 cubic foot bag of Miracle-Gro Raised Bed Soil can cover a specific area depending on the depth of your raised bed. For a 2 ft x 2 ft bed, you'll need 2 bags for a 6-inch depth, 3 bags for a 12-inch depth, and 5 bags for a 20-inch depth. For a 4 ft x 4 ft bed, you'll need 6 bags for a 6-inch depth, 11 bags for a 12-inch depth, and 18 bags for a 20-inch depth. If you have a 4 ft x 8 ft bed, you'll need 11 bags for a 6-inch depth, 22 bags for a 12-inch depth, and 36 bags for a 20-inch depth. And for two 4 ft x 8 ft beds, you'll need 22 bags for a 6-inch depth, 43 bags for a 12-inch depth, and 72 bags for a 20-inch depth. We hope this information helps you determine the right amount of Miracle-Gro Raised Bed Soil for your garden. If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to reach out. • A: Raised Bed Soil is like a balance between garden soil and potting mix. It has the exceptional drainage necessary for container and raised bed gardening. It assists gardeners in maintaining loose soil and provides adequate airflow for necessary oxygen and nutrient delivery to root systems.

Ivnever really yrusted Martha's recommendations

I used it to add a layer in an established 2x8 raised bed. Two seasons in a row, all tomatoes except Whoppers died of early blight, peppers had some growth but very low productuion. Water goes through this semi composted mix of wood scrap as though it were a sieve!.This year I mixed what was left with some peat moss and used it to host a "fignomenal " patio fig tree. After adding sugar water for root growth the tree came to life, and after feeding it with miracle grow tree food, the tree finally began to show growth but water runs through the soil so fast that even with daily watering , the soil is dry by noon in our hot Maryland sun. Back to the raised bed. I planted only 2 whopper tomatoes and used miracle grow vegetable food. One of the tomatoes finally started growing a bit. I then worked in some expired, well past it's sell by date for baking, rye flour and both tomatoes took off. One is still doing better than it's mate. I feed them with the miracle grow veg. food every 14 days. As of this morning, I have picked 2 very nice tomatoes and each plant has one ripening and a few blossoms. My Fignominal has one fig bud.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Great soil that COMES WITH GNATS FREE OF CHARGE!!!

Great soil as far as how plants like it but every time I buy some I get infested with Fungus Gnats. Last year (4-2024) I had to toss out all my plants because I could not get rid of them. Then I waited until 3/2025 to buy more plants one at a time to make sure none had gnats. And then after 5 new plants and no gnats I made the BIG mistake of buying MG again. I figured maybe it was an infestation at their plant. Well, within a week I started seeing them again! ARHGGG! And they were not the same type as last time this was a new type (and entomologist told me there are many varieties even two species. Well this time NEVER am I going to trust MG again.

We're sorry to read about your experience with the Miracle-Gro Raised Bed Soil and appreciate your feedback. To help get rid of the gnats, try these tips: Let the soil dry out between waterings to kill the larvae. Most people over water their plants, which can make the problem worse. Yellow sticky traps placed near where you see the gnats flying around can help catch them. Apply a layer of sand (at least 1/2 inch) on top of the soil in your potted plants to prevent the larvae from burrowing and help them die off. Leave the sand in place for several weeks until the problem is gone. Important note: Don't use sand on seedlings or when starting plants from seeds, as it can harm them. Remember, it might take a few weeks to see a significant reduction in the number of gnats. It's important to treat all of your houseplants to ensure you get rid of the problem completely. We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee. If for any reason you, the consumer, are not satisfied with the results after using this product, you are entitled to get your money back. Limitations apply. So very disappointing

I have never been so disappointed! I have 2 raised beds, one I filled with regular garden soil. Plants are doing great. The other has you more expensive soil. I can’t get anything started around the hundreds of mushrooms sprouting! I wish I could add a photo. Ridiculous!

No, I do not recommend this product.

Customer Care
We're sorry to read about your disappointment with Miracle-Gro Raised Bed Soil and appreciate your feedback. Fungal spores are a natural part of soils. Under the correct conditions, spores can develop into fungus or mold. Our growing media products are not sterilized and may contain microorganisms such as fungus. In fact, fungus/mold has been scientifically proven to improve the growth of plants which is why we do not sterilize the soil. The fungus/mold only becomes a problem if there is an overgrowth. Overgrowth occurs when the soil/mulch is too wet. The mold and fungus that grow on soils and mulch are safe for people to be around, although, as always, we recommend you use gloves when handling. Allow the plants to dry out a bit between waterings. This will not harm the plants. We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee. If for any reason you, the consumer, are not satisfied with the results after using this product, you are entitled to get your money back. Limitations apply.
