Q: Is there a way to set the unit to cool a room, and have the unit turn off once desired temperature is reached? If not, what is the best setting to get a cool room (68) and keep cost down as much as possible.

  • A: Hi there, we appreciate you reaching out, and we understand you want your LW1024RD window air conditioner to cool the room to 68°F and then shut off automatically to help manage energy use. It’s great that you’re looking for the most efficient setup. This model can do that. The built‑in thermostat and Energy Saver mode allow the unit to reach your set temperature and then cycle off to help reduce costs. To get the best cooling and efficiency, you can try: • Set the thermostat to 68°F • Use Energy Saver mode so the compressor and fan turn off once the room reaches the set temperature • Keep doors and windows closed to help the room cool faster For guidance, here’s the manual for your model: • https://www.lg.com/us/support/product/lg-LW1024RD.AT1AUSH?tab=1 If you need further assistance, feel free to email lgdigitalcare@lg.sprinklrsupport.com. ‑LG Digital Care Team ^Rich

Q: Does this unit have a slide in-out chassis (for 2nd floor window)? Can not install non slide chassis since have vinyl replacement windows (can't drill) and home owners assoc does not allow stands against siding. This would replace an older 10k btu LG AC

Q: How do I get fresh outside air in fan mode

  • A: Hello, Mol25. Unlike older LG Air Conditioners that had a ventilation lever that could be set to the 'OPEN' position when fresh air was needed in the room, the LG 10,000 BTU Window Air Conditioner, Model # LW1024RD does not have this feature, so you cannot draw fresh air into the room from the outside...^Ivan.

Q: Why can this unit not be used in a through-the-wall installation? Is it because of the vent placements on top of the machine?

Originally posted on lg.com

  • A: Hi, DBor In-wall or through-the-wall air conditioners have to be placed in a sleeve to support the air conditioner's weight when installed in a wall. Placing the LG 10,000 BTU Window Air Conditioner, Model # LW1024RD, in a sleeve would mean covering up the top and side louvers on its cabinet, and moisture could become trapped in the system, creating a high-humidity environment. That could lead to rust and corrosion. Electrical wiring also can become damaged. A window air conditioner is made to be open to the air. Covering it will block proper airflow, which can lead to mold growth on the evaporator coils. That would also reduce efficiency and could cause the unit to burn itself out prematurely. Window air conditioners require a standard single-hung or double-hung window for proper installation. Non-window installations, including using sleeves or wall openings, and other installation methods are not recommended...^Ivan.

Q: It looks like this model has a lever that controls a vent. My understanding is that opening this vent will allow fresh air to come in from outside of the house. With this vent open, does the AC's fan blow the outside air in? thanks

  • A: Hey there! We'd be happy to help you learn more about this LG AC unit. Rather than pulling outside air into the room like older models, this unit generates its own air with its own fan while removing the hot air in the room outwards, providing you with fresh, cool air. If you have any other questions, feel free to reach out to us on social media at @LGUSSupport, and we'll be happy to answer them for you! *Josh

Q: How to clean filter

Originally posted on lg.com

  • A: Hey Tania! It's fantastic that you've brought this up. To ensure your unit operates at its best, bi-weekly switching of the filter is important. We recommend inspecting the air filter at least every two weeks to determine if it is time for a cleaning. Allowing particles to accumulate can obstruct airflow, diminish the cooling effectiveness, and lead to frost accumulation on the evaporator. Please refer to page 21 in our owner's manual for detailed cleaning instructions. Should you have further inquiries, we're here to assist. ^Anthony

Big A/C unit with lots of cooling power!

I love my new 12,000 btu LG air conditioner. The install was quite simple if your windows are perfectly square, but mine are not. You must pull the center of the unit out first and install the outer frame first. It was quite challenging to put the faceplate on the unit at the end and get it to stay attached correctly. I was able to fix the situation. Overall the directions are simple and easy to follow overall. This unit sits in the window very sturdy so no worries of it falling out randomly. Other than that is has been amazing. The air quality is great. This Lg A/C cools my whole downstairs level fast and efficiently. It can handle 1000 square feet no problem. I can keep my living room, bathroom, bedroom, kitchen, and dining room at a nice and cool temperature all day long. I love when my house is cold during the summer and this will definitely get the job done. Its very quiet and runs smooth. I barely can tell it’s running. It also comes with a simple and easy to use remote. This is a big window unit so make sure it will fit before purchasing. LG is usually really good with the energy consumption but we will see in the future. Overall a great A/C unit to have, especially for big areas. I will definitely be comfortable and cool all summer long..

Great AC for a 400sq ft sunroom

I recently installed the LG 450 sq ft window air conditioner in my 400 sq ft sunroom, and I’m very happy with the results. It cools the space incredibly fast—even on the hottest days, it makes the room comfortable in no time. Installation and removal are both straightforward, which makes it convenient for seasonal use. One feature I really like is the adjustable airflow direction. Being able to change the wind side helps circulate cool air exactly where I need it. While the unit is a bit on the louder side, the sound doesn’t bother me—it’s a fair trade-off for the strong performance. I also think it doesn’t use too much energy, which is a big plus, especially when running it frequently during heat waves. Overall, this AC has been a great addition. It’s powerful, efficient, easy to use, and makes a real difference on high-temperature days.

Nice unit

Good unit does what it meant to do cool and quiet, it's a little beast it does cool nicely and the dry out function seem to work to over all a great product with good air flow, easy install and you can definitely run this on a portable generator if you have 700w I would say it's energy efficient if you compare it to other units.
