Q: How many amps does this unit use?

We understand you want to know how many amps the LG LW6024R 6,000 BTU window air conditioner uses, and it’s great that you’re checking the electrical requirements before installing it. This unit draws 4.8 amps during cooling. A helpful step is to make sure the AC is connected to a dedicated 115V outlet, as this ensures the unit performs at its best. Q: Does unit model LW6024RY have a drain port? There are some areas on the bottom of the unit that appear like a plug but nothing in manual about these or how to remove.

  • A: Hi there. The LG window A/C unit LW6024RY does have a drain area, but it’s not always labeled clearly in the manual. The small rubber plug at the bottom rear is part of the unit’s design to manage condensation. During everyday use, the A/C holds a small amount of water in the base pan to help cool the condenser coils. This plug is typically left in place unless you must drain the unit for storage or if excess water builds up. Ensure the unit is slightly tilted toward the outside to allow proper drainage. For more questions, private message us on social media @LGUSSupport. Per the 'Clean Filter' instructions on page 15 in your owner's manual for the LG 6,000 BTU Window Air Conditioner, Model # LW6024R, "The Clean Filter LED lights up to notify you that the filter needs to be cleaned. After cleaning the filter, press Temp ▲and ▼together on the control panel to turn off the Clean Filter light. Q: Can this be used in a horizontal sliding window?

  • A: Hi there Tim! Thank you for reaching out. Unfortunately, our 7,500 BTU Smart Wi-Fi Enabled Window Air Conditioner, Cooling & Heating, model # LW8021HRSM, cannot be installed in horizontal sliding windows. It's specifically engineered for standard single-hung or double-hung windows, fitting opening widths from 22" to 36". For a successful installation, the window's top and bottom sashes must allow for a vertical opening of at least 14", measured from the bottom of the upper sash to the inside sill. We have other models tailored to those with horizontal sliding windows to meet your needs. We're happy to help you find the perfect fit for your space. ^Anthony

Nice, but runs continuously.

Just purchased the LW6024R model 6,000 btu. I like that it is lighter weight than my previous AC unit. It makes it easier to install and uninstall. The noise is bearable. My only complaint so far is that the unit does not shut off on its own. The fan runs continuously. The unit runs about 2 or 3 minutes and then the condenser turns on. The condenser remains on for about 2 or 3 minutes and then shuts off to the fan running again., On and on it goes. Cannot see how this is energy efficient. If I use the Energy Saving mode, I cannot lower the temperature to my desired comfort for sleeping. It keeps it at 70 degrees or above. I like my room cooler at bedtime.

LG
Hello, Sue. Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding your LG LW6024R Air conditioner. We are pleased to hear that you appreciate the lightweight design making installation much easier, and we want to help ensure your cooling system operates as efficiently as possible while keeping your room perfectly comfortable. When the cooling fan operates continuously, it is often due to the operational settings selected on the control panel. In standard cooling modes, the fan remains active to keep indoor air circulating evenly even when the condenser cycles off, whereas using the energy saving mode allows the entire system to cycle down once the set threshold is reached. To achieve a cooler sleeping environment while maximizing efficiency, we recommend ensuring the temperature setting is lowered before activating the energy saving function, and verifying that the temperature sensor on the front of the coils is clean and free of obstruction so it can accurately read the room climate. Please send us an email at lgdigitalcare@lg.sprinklrsupport.com if you need further assistance. ^James

Absolutely NOT Recommended! The Noise Is Insane!

I bought this LG air conditioner because I’ve been satisfied with other LG products, but this was a huge disappointment. Yes, it cools well. But the noise is unbelievably loud — like a construction site. I turned it on for the first time today, and it was so noisy that we had to raise our voices just to have a conversation. This is NOT an installation issue. The noise is clearly coming from the unit itself. Honestly, if I had known it would be this loud, I would have chosen another brand. I seriously regret this purchase. If you’re considering buying this product, do NOT buy it unless you can tolerate extreme noise. I’m currently debating whether I should return it or not.

LG
Hi, Heather. We appreciate you sharing your experience with your LG LW6024R Air conditioner, and we hear you on how the noise level affected your first impression. We want you to feel comfortable using your unit, and your feedback helps us understand what you’re experiencing in your space. When a window AC sounds louder than expected, it can sometimes be tied to internal vibration, the compressor cycling, or the fan encountering resistance. Making sure the unit is level, checking that nothing is touching the cabinet, and confirming the front grille is fully secured can help reduce excess noise. You can also review our guide on identifying normal vs. problematic sounds here: https://www.lg.com/us/support/help-library/lg-air-conditioner-sound-guide-identifying-normal-vs-problematic-noises--20154534046951 If you’d like us to take a closer look at your unit or walk through additional steps together, feel free to reach out to lgdigitalcare@lg.sprinklrsupport.com. ^James

Small and mighty

This is definitely a small hint designed for a small room! And I mean SMALL. but it does a good job cooling off a room and is fairly quiet. I didn’t love the “panels” that fill the rest of the window…. They have space that allows outside air/ BUGS to get in…. So make sure you have some insulation and tape! Overall it helps cool the room which is exactly what we need in this summer heat!
