Q: Is this particular model considered dripless? Meaning does it drip water out on the pavement below?

  • A: Hey there! We'd be more than happy to help you with the LG air conditioner. This model is designed to manage condensation internally, so it is considered dripless in typical operation. It does not drip water directly onto the pavement below. Instead, any moisture collected is usually evaporated or drained through an internal system. Q: LW8024RD 8,000 BTU Window Air Conditioner. Does the unit shut off when it gets to Temp in the Cooling Mode. Also there is a Black Rubber Plug under the Air conditioner should that be removed to drain the water or do we leave it in?

Originally posted on lg.com

1 Answer
  • A: Hello, Lmaisonv. When the LG 8,000 BTU Window Air Conditioner, Model # LW8024RD, is set to run in Energy Saver mode, the compressor and fan turn off when the set temperature is achieved. Approximately every 3 minutes the fan turns on to allow the unit sensor to accurately determine if more cooling is needed. The air conditioner is equipped with a slinger fan with an outer ring that picks up the condensed water from the base pan if the water level gets high enough. The fan then picks up the water and expels it through the condenser, making the air conditioner more efficient. However, if the water level in the base pan gets too high you can remove the plug from the drain port to drain any excess water...^Ivan.

Q: Hearing a bit of a higher pitched grind - recently installed

Originally posted on lg.com

  • A: Hello there! It's normal to hear the sound of water splashing or a pinging noise when the air conditioner is running. These sounds are nothing to worry about and are simply caused by moisture in the base pan of the air conditioner being picked up by a fan. This helps the air conditioner to cool more effectively by helping to discharge the heat from the condenser coil. If the noise seems different from what was described, please contact us on social media at @LGUSSupport with your contact details so we can investigate further. - Anthony

Q: Just installed a new unit for our small guard shack & it ran for about 20 minutes now our security guard is roasting the comp. shuts off & it won’t do anything we cycle through the settings & nothing maybe after another 20 minutes & the unit will turn on

  • A: Hello, Eslim831. What is the square footage of the "small guard shack" in which the LG 8,000 BTU Window Air Conditioner, Model # LW8024RD, is installed? The 8,000 BTU rating for this air conditioner will cool a room of up to 340 square feet. If the guard shack that you have the AC installed in is too small for the BTU rating, you have an oversized air conditioner and if the shack feels cool but “wet” and too humid, that is a sure sign you have an oversized air conditioner. An oversized air conditioner presents a number of problems that can be crippling and result in needing to replace the unit years before its time. With oversized air conditioners, the unit makes the room cooler faster. As a result, it runs a much shorter period of time than an air conditioner that has been properly sized will. This means the water cannot condense on the coil and is carried back into the room. So while your room may be cooler, an oversized air conditioner results in that “sticky feeling” you sometimes get in air-conditioned houses...^Ivan.

Big A/C unit with lots of cooling power!

I love my new 12,000 btu LG air conditioner. The install was quite simple if your windows are perfectly square, but mine are not. You must pull the center of the unit out first and install the outer frame first. It was quite challenging to put the faceplate on the unit at the end and get it to stay attached correctly. I was able to fix the situation. Overall the directions are simple and easy to follow overall. This unit sits in the window very sturdy so no worries of it falling out randomly. Other than that is has been amazing. The air quality is great. This Lg A/C cools my whole downstairs level fast and efficiently. It can handle 1000 square feet no problem. I can keep my living room, bathroom, bedroom, kitchen, and dining room at a nice and cool temperature all day long. I love when my house is cold during the summer and this will definitely get the job done. Its very quiet and runs smooth. I barely can tell it’s running. It also comes with a simple and easy to use remote. This is a big window unit so make sure it will fit before purchasing. LG is usually really good with the energy consumption but we will see in the future. Overall a great A/C unit to have, especially for big areas. I will definitely be comfortable and cool all summer long..

Great AC for a 400sq ft sunroom

I recently installed the LG 450 sq ft window air conditioner in my 400 sq ft sunroom, and I’m very happy with the results. It cools the space incredibly fast—even on the hottest days, it makes the room comfortable in no time. Installation and removal are both straightforward, which makes it convenient for seasonal use. One feature I really like is the adjustable airflow direction. Being able to change the wind side helps circulate cool air exactly where I need it. While the unit is a bit on the louder side, the sound doesn’t bother me—it’s a fair trade-off for the strong performance. I also think it doesn’t use too much energy, which is a big plus, especially when running it frequently during heat waves. Overall, this AC has been a great addition. It’s powerful, efficient, easy to use, and makes a real difference on high-temperature days.

Nice unit

Good unit does what it meant to do cool and quiet, it's a little beast it does cool nicely and the dry out function seem to work to over all a great product with good air flow, easy install and you can definitely run this on a portable generator if you have 700w I would say it's energy efficient if you compare it to other units.

Good Quality AC Unit

This air conditioning unit is the perfect size for a small space! It’s not too loud inside and the fan blows really strong. It comes with a remote which is nice! It also has the foam gasket to help insulate the unit and reduce any light coming through
