I like it

Dressed up an old, worn out rail fence with it. I pressure washed the wood and let it dry before applying. I applied with a Wagner sprayer, using a pretty heavy coat. I did have to stop and clean the gun 2 times in the process of spraying 3 gallons. The paint is starting its third season now, still looking good. Once a year I go out with a paint brush and whats left of the bucket of paint and touch up spots. I want to address the negative reviews on this paint. This is lacquer based paint and lacquer thinners evaporate really quickly, which is why your sprayer clogs up. Sediment does come out of suspension rather quickly in this mixture, so you need to stir quite a bit and keep it moving. If it is too thin, let it sit out for a few hours or so to evaporate some excess solvent. If it thickens up too much in storage, thin it with lacquer thinner, NOT paint thinner. Pour the unused bucket into 1 gallon paint cans that you've cleaned out for better storage. It will work for you and it will only go bad after several years in proper storage...I assume. I'm still using mine and it stores in the barn. What I have not figured out yet: Is how this paint measures up to the Black Beauty asphalt paint. Any knowledge there?

A lousy product

This "paint" took over 3 weeks to dry on plywood and is still sticky after more than a month on metal. It was thoroughly stirred and rolled on the plywood, and sprayed on the metal.

Great product for barns and fences. Problem is tractor supply on carries 1-2 buckets at the time. It’s hard to get much work done without materials.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Best fence paint ever!

I painted about 325' of wood four post fence and my propane tank. It's super thin, so there's a lot of splash but it comes off okay with mineral spirits. I pressure washed first and it rolled on super smooth, with great coverage even where there were bits of old white paint. I used two coats in hopes that it will last longer. I'm only two months in but it looks great and you can't beet the price. This will be my "go to" paint from now on, it was so much better than anything I've used.

As a seasoned construction professional with extensive hands-on experience, working with a range of commercial-grade coatings and materials, I wanted to offer a firsthand assessment of this product, particularly in response to some of the reviews. From my experience, many of the concerns raised in those reviews did not reflect the product’s actual performance during application. The material mixed with ease. Due to its flammable composition, most retailers do not offer mechanical mixing; however, using a paddle mixer with a power drill, I was able to achieve a uniform consistency in just a few minutes with minimal effort. Application Performance: I applied the product using an airless sprayer and experienced no clogging or performance issues. The coating is inherently thin, great for spray application and laid down evenly. Although I initially had reservations about absorption and coverage, especially over aged, weathered lumber. The product provided excellent opacity with a single coat on a 6x6 vertical wall, yielding a consistent and uniform finish. Material Quality & Preparation: Both 5-gallon buckets were free of sediment or debris. No filtration or straining was needed prior to spraying, which speaks to the manufacturer’s quality control. Cleanup, while requiring solvent-based agents due to the lacquer formulation, was straightforward. I used mineral spirits without issue, and the sprayer was cleaned with relative ease. Safety & Handling: I did come in contact with the product during the process. It was easily removed with warm, soapy water and caused no skin irritation. As noted in other reviews, the fumes are significant. I strongly recommend the use of a properly rated respirator, even in outdoor or semi-ventilated environments, to ensure safe use. Coverage & Efficiency: Coverage exceeded expectations. I completed the project using only 6 out of the 10 gallons purchased. This translates to strong material efficiency, especially for exterior projects involving rough or porous substrates. Summary: Overall, this is a well-formulated, contractor-grade product that performs reliably when handled and applied according to best practices. It offers solid coverage, ease of use, and no surprises during prep or cleanup. However, users should be aware of the high VOC level and plan accordingly for ventilation and personal protective equipment. Note: I can not provide long-term performance data, regarding the product’s durability under extended exterior exposure. Monitoring over time is recommended, to assess, weather resistance and overall longevity.

Yes, I recommend this product.
