Rated 5 out of 5 by from Application is a 10 Hubby and I used this on shutters, hand rails, window trim and wood fence. We used a sprayer and by hand with rollers/brushes. The coverage is awesome! Although it is semi-gloss, the sheen is not extremely Shine and i love that! I’m not able to review the longevity but as far as application-it’s a 10!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Happy with this product. Thinner than what you are used to (house) painting with, but much thicker and easier to control than the watery oil based fence paint of the past. Easy to mix, easy to brush or roll on. More economical than home improvement store versions. (I repaint 5 miles of our fence at home every 3 years, not a professional.)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good fence paint, good value We've used this for re-painting all the fences on our horse farm. Great paint for the value. I much prefer the latex to the asphalt-based as it goes on great with my sprayer. On new board, it generally requires a second coat to look great. But, good enough with one coat for most, and great for re-painting. At a good price!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Fence Paint Available I have almost an 1/8 mile of board fencing. I painted part of it with the Lexington brand and another section with a competitors so called premium paint. The following year the fence painted with the Lexington paint still looked great. The other section painted with the "other" brand was already badly flaking off. Don't let the lower price fool you into thinking it's cheaper quality because it isn't. It's the only paint I'll ever use. I also painted a metal gate with it and looks great.

I want to paint a 4 board fence front and back with this paint. I have approx 229 linear feet. How do I determine how much paint I need?

Asked by: luckyfudogs
It takes 1.2 gallon per 16 linear feet on a 4 board fence. That includes both sides and the post. It will take 3 or 4 pails to paint 229 feet, depending on how you apply it.

Four board fence, three months old. The fence installer said I could paint the fence with an everyday pump-style garden sprayer. Do you recommend this?

Asked by: FPHx
No, our paints will not work through a pump-style garden sprayer.

I’m looking to paint 3 telephone poles I am using to build a bridge over my creek. They are 26’ long and the were originally creosote but they are weathered. What paint do you recommend or should I just reuse creosote again.

Asked by: Clemmy
The best product for this application is Fencecoat Black, 3414305. It will stick to the old Creosote just fine.

what is finish of this black paint?  I need flat black.   Thanks, Houston

Asked by: Houston
This paint has a semi gloss finish, it depends greatly on the fence condition and roughness.

Is this a topical paint, or does it absorb into the wood like a stain or preservative

Asked by: Ken78003
This paint is topical.

Is this paint non toxic? We would like to paint our fencing but our dogs frequently chew on the fence so we are obviously concerned about it’s safety.

Asked by: AT in NC
Per the vendor: Our paints are safe for animals. We cater to the agricultural and horse industry where horses chew on fences. Once the paint is on a fence, the animal will not ingest so much that it will be harmful.

What is the difference between this paint and the grey bucket of Lexington fence paint??? I need a good fence paint that I can spray that will penetrate the wood and last for a while. How long will this paint look good and last on the fence???

Asked by: Farmboy69
The grey "Fence Coat" bucket is an acrylic lacquer while the black "Fence Pro" is 100% acrylic latex paint. Both can be applied using a spray method. Both are very durable and work great on all types of wooden fencing. They will last quite sometime however, different climates may produce different results.
