Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good paint but color may vary I bought several gallons from TSC and one had a definite gray hue compared to the other two which were a rich dark black. Noticeable from road. I am aware of the boxing technique but for fence paint?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible paint, faded after 6 months, don't buy! Use Latex based fence paint. We have to repaint 2 miles of fence now. After 10 years, the fence we painted with latex, still looks great. The fence we painted with asphalt paint looks as if it was never painted in its life. Don't make the same mistake.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked well I have 5+ acres of 3 board (live in North Florida), tried other fence paints but this was the best. I use a good quality 4" hand brush, yes it is a bear to apply by hand, lots of bending, lots of mess, and I throw everything away when done. But it lasts about 6 years before I need to reapply. The other paints faded within 2 years. I can only do between 5-10 gallons on any given day, and have special "paint clothes, gloves, and boots" when working, and these too get pitched when the project is done. But it is a tough paint that holds up against the sun/rain/wind/cold. Hard work here, including cleanup as some always gets on your body, but the 6 year life span is worth it.

Will this come off on your hands etc. in 100 degree plus heat? And how long does this take to fully cure on dried lumber?

Asked by: RhoniT
You should wear gloves during application to prevent product from getting on your skin. Product will dry in a couple of hours in proper conditions. A citrus cleaner will remove the dried material. Thanks and good luck with your project.

I’m installing a new fence and want to pre paint beforehand how long do I need to let lumber I buy from a big box store

Asked by: Johndog
You should install the fence and let it weather for a minimum of 30 days before coating. Test a small section first before applying to make sure the oils in the wood have dried out and the coating will stick. Due to the limited information we have on your project, please read the Technical Data Sheet (TDS) for further product information, and proper prep and application information. You'll find the TDS on the individual product page of www.gardner-gibson.com .

Ok I have cut pine trees down can I use this on the ends to put a fence in the ground?

Asked by: Marine1
This product is designed for aged wood that is dry. I'm not sure if it will stick to new, freshly cut wood or not?

canyon thin the black beauty asphalt paint with thinner.   what kind?

Asked by: janel
You can thin it slightly with clean water, but that will reduce the finished dry film, just something to be aware of. You can cleanup the dry film with paint thinner.

you answered my question but what ration of clean water for a 4.5 gallon of Black Beauty.   Also, what is the film?  It would be nice to talk to a person.   Is that a possibility?
