Austinville Limestone 40 Pound Soft Calcium Gypsum Soil Conditioner is designed for use with lawn and garden applications. Gypsum (pelletized calcium sulfate) is a pH neutral source of calcium and magnesium that neutralizes harmful salts from animal waste or frequent fertilization. This soft soil conditioner is also helpful in loosening the soil structure of compacted clay soils.

If you are seeding a new lawn, applying the gypsum before seeding is a good method to improve the soil structure for root development. That being said, it is a pH neutral source of calcium and sulfur. If that is desirable for growing mushrooms, it would be ideal.
