Ideal Animal Health Drawing Salve Grooming Aid promotes healing in wounds and helps treat chronic inflammation. This ichthammol drawing salve can be used as an anti-inflammatory and helps relieve itching and swelling. Drawing salve is for use on hooves, nails, and skin of horses and dogs. Drawing salve for infection may also be used to treat itching and minor skin irritations. This draw-out salve contains lanolin as an emollient to care for the skin.

This stuff Works

I have not yet found a wound that this will not heal. It is especially good at pulling infection out of abcesses that have been opened and drained but have not yet healed. The only kind of wound it should not be used on are wounds caused by anaerobic bacteria. Just clean the wound daily with saline solution or wound cleanser and apply a fair layer over the wound, then cover with gauze pads and secure with a wrap. Once daily treatment is usually all it takes unless it is pulling out a lot of drainage; then increase to twice daily. It has worked when other things don't.
I have used this stuff on cats, dogs, poultry, and people (yes, people...), and it worked wonderfully in every application.
I love this stuff!

Definitely Works As a Drawing Salve!

Fire ants invaded my state decades ago and the most effective commercial growth regulator was removed from market due to the extreme cost of licensing the effective ingredient. The loss makes them very hard to control. When I moved my horse to a new pasture, she fell victim of one of their ant hills while grazing. Her back leg was badly swollen with pustules from hundreds of bites I put a coating of Ichthammol over the bites and loosely wrapped her leg with gauze and stretchy wrap. The next day, the pus was all gone out of the bites and the swelling was gone. Healing was very fast. It has also worked on bumble bee stings. I will not go without this product in my first aid collection.
