Personally, I wouldn't pay attention to the negative reviews.
These chickens are wayward at times. When not penned in, they may go lay eggs in the most random places (easter egg hunt anyone??), but they can be trained.
More importantly, on the eggs, they lay a beautiful variety of hues from the brownest olive to the most blue green. Regular layers (our current brood are about 7 months old). They all arrived healthy and developed into regularly laying hens at about 20 weeks.
Overall, couldn't be happier!

Pretty Nice Potenenial —but— PRETTY STUPID!

These Green Eggs layers are making everyone want my eggs… BUT i’m not sure the chickens are ever going to get to laying age… These are the dumbest chicks I’ve ever had! I had two stand butt to butt and couldn’t find each other so they started to scream at the top of their lungs... Continuously! Until I literally reached in and turned them around so I can see each other. They stopped… Found and Safe! … I did vision checks on these guys and all the rest they can see they’re blind or simply dumb… Their dumb!.
Other examples: I stepped into their brooder area and everyone ran BUT, you guessed it, the Green Egg Chicks… Had my foot actually touching his head and almost squished him… It it just sat there staring blankly into oblivion chirping… I’ve had five die from freezing and not being warm enough even though I put three heaters in that area… Every other check of every other breed doesn’t have this problem they knowing how to walk forward and backwards and left and right these ones are sitting there in the middle of wherever they were put or wherever they were pushed by the other chicks and scream and scream and scream!… Also, I hate to say i was walking by and one saw me, and ran full force at me so abruptly I couldn’t stop my step… I wont describe the ending but I was almost in tears (partially because it was the dumbest thing I’ve seen and I’ve been raising Chickens for 20+ Years…. Poor Flat Chick… I hope they smarten up because I only have a few left and had 10. I’ve barely lost any other bird this year but to freak accidents. Almost like this new breed is just well, stupid…

Poor travelers?

I have never had chicks die on me before. I lost six out of 10. One was DOA and a couple could barely stand when they were put in the brooder, only an hour after the post office notified me of arrival. Several times they would chirp loudly and I would find them on their backs. I put them to water multiple times but noticed that many of them never returned on their own. My guess is that this breed does not travel well. 4 of the 5 starlight died. One of the four survivors is an Americana, which I did not want as I already have many. Was a little disappointed that it was included in this pack.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Box of dead chicks

I ordered 10 chicks thru tractor supply at a cost of $106. When they arrived I had a box of 3 live chicks, 3 barely live chicks and 4 dead chicks. Not what I call a good average. You got me this time but it won't happen again
