Great little planer

Great little planer. With the helical head it gives great surface to the wood. Helical head is also cuts much quieter that the traditional three blade heads.

Does a pretty good job. Definitely Good to get you going but you’ll most likely up-grade it. Some aspects seem cheap on it. The sides are just plastic and It’s actually made in china. I thought it was going to be made in Taiwan. I have several other grizzly made tools and they are Taiwan and seem very well built. The depth stop was never installed from the factory, it was just sitting there in the planer. More snipe than I was expecting. Definitely quiet. I upgraded from a bench top delta I had since 1995. Substantially quieter, substantially. This planer doesn’t really like heavier rough sawn lumber with deep saw marks. It seems to get hung up on the infeed side occasionally. So if you’re going to plane really rough sawn stuff you need to take smaller cuts on multiple passes. This would make a very good finish planer. Boards come out Very smooth and true with a couple inches of snipe on the leading edge. Seems like a decent planer but hindsight I wish I would have just kicked in the two grand extra bought a real planer like the 20” spiral planer instead..this one will get me going but I’ll definitely up grade it in a couple years. Much better than the delta one I had. I think it’s better than the box store planers. This is a couple hundred more than those box store ones. Great entry level intermediate planer for a hobbyist but I run a lot of feet through it and I don’t think it’s really meant for that. We’ll see how many years I get out of this one as my last one lasted 30 years. I’m a real person from rochester ny. I’ve been in woodworking and the trades since age 10. I’ve done it all. Built my own house by hand at age 23. I know tools. I rate this 4 stars.

Very pleased with this planer.

Easy to set up and use. Very little adjustment and cleaning was required. Very smooth surfaces, fairly quiet.
