Good product

I bought this around Christmas time in 2011. I am still using it and have a few ounces left and it is nearly December 2013. Lasts a long time and I use it often. The only thing is you have to be careful, would not recommend this on light oil pleasure saddles or something of the sort. I have a cherry colored trail saddle that i use it on, and i can visibly see a slight darkening of the leather. It isnt really a bother to me, because the cherry color is forgiving and eventually fades back to its normal color, but i do see some discoloration on my saddle fenders where there are dark spots. you can't see it when riding, which is good but it's still there. A good product, but I rather Lexol cleaners instead. Again i reiterate: do not allow the soap to run, spray the cleaner onto a tack sponge or a barn rag and then apply to saddle. You do not need a conditioner when you have this cleaner, which is a plus, because that makes it cheaper than most products.

Tending To Your Tack

May 12, 2013 Tending To Your Tack Leather saddle soap is  mandatory for cleaning tack, such as saddle, bridle, and reins. The product, Leather New by Famam, is a leather soap that is recommended for removal of grime and dirt from tack may change the color and provides a good shine. Having used this product to clean my tack I would rate this product with a 6 ( on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best tack cleaner).  Leather New does remove grime and dirt from your tack. This product adds a nice gloss to the leather. Leather New comes in an easy to apply, 16 ounce spray bottle, priced at $9.99 plus tax. This product just happens to fit in my tack box, which is another perk. The rating of 6 given to Leather New is justified because of my experience with this product. The following may alarm some lovers of their leather tack. Leather New may change the color of your tack from brown to black. This product changed my stirrup leather from brown to black. If you happen to spray too much of this product onto your tack, it can make your tack too soapy. The extra letter is hard to rub away from leather.  If you don’t remove loose dirt before you spray Leather New on your tack, the dirt will mix with the soap and make the tack look dull.

Soap for a Shine!

Farnam Saddle Soap is the best I’ve ever used! I recently bought two used saddles from an auction and after using this product on them, they shined like new! Other saddle soaps have a very strong chemical smell but this one was very mild and didn’t sting your nostrils as you are cleaning!
